v junior boy has a model plane which can be borrowed for the lesson.) LESSON: In looking at this model airplane, I am reminded of the Lord’s Prayer, which Christ gave to His disciples during the Sermon on the Mount. The Lord’s followers had said, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Christ responded by saying: “After this manner there fore pray ye” (Matt. 6:9). He then gave them what is known as the Lord’s Prayer, to be a model for their prayers. We have not done all that Christ intended, when we merely have re peated from memory the words of the Lord’s Prayer. It is His desire that we model' all our prayers after this great prayer. If you were going to build a model airplane, you would examine the construction sketch very carefully. If we are to pray as Chrifet wants us to, / we must examine the model He gave. ,The first half of the prayer has to do with God, and the things which concern Him most. The second half deals with our daily bread, forgive ness, and guidance. Often we do not pray as God would have us pray, for we do not follow the model Christ gave. We begin by asking for things which concern us most, instead of for the things which w ill bring the most glory to God. From now on, let us follow Jhe ex ample of Christ, praying after His model and having the Consciousness that our prayers, thus made, will meet with His approval. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye* shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy n a m e have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonder ful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth t h e s e sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and t h e floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 , And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and th e floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

is in our hearts. Even a little prayer, with l o v e in it, ¿will makè the heavenly Father glad. Jesus said that a good way for us to pray is to go into a room, or closet, and shut the door, and talk t o , the heavenly Father just as we would talk to our dearest friend. When we pray like that, and mention Jesus’ name, the heavenly Father always hears and sends an answer. Then Jesus gave to all His friends a prayer for them to know. It. begins with the lovely words, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed (or holy) be thy name” 1(v. 9). (Read verses 9-13, or use them reverently as a prayer if the children know the passage.) When we pray in Jesus’ najne, we learn what our Memory Verse means: “Thou hçarest me always.” Object Lesson M a k in g a M odel OBJECTS: A model airplane, and its construction sketch. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the king dom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
