Employee Welfare Benefits Plan ("Plan") required by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 As a Plan participant in Mid-America Apartments, L.P.'s Plan, you are entitled to certain information, rights and protection under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). The benefits described in your Certificate are provided under a group insurance Policy issued by the Insurance Company. The Policy is incorporated into the Plan.  The Insurance Plan is administered directly by the Plan Administrator with benefits provided, in accordance with the provisions of the group insurance contract, CI111620("Policy"), issued by CIGNA HEALTH AND LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY ("Insurance Company").

 The Plan Administrator has authority to control and manage the operation and administration of the Plan.

 The Plan Sponsor may terminate, suspend, withdraw or amend the Plan, in whole or in part, at any time, subject to the applicable provisions of the Policy. (Your rights upon termination or amendment of the Plan are set forth in your Certificate.)

 The agent for service of legal process is the Plan Administrator.

 The Plan of benefits is financed by the Employees.

 The date of the end of the Plan Year is December 31.
