Teen Extended Care Camp Staff
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Camp Staff
Extended Care is available for teen campers from 4 to 5 p.m. each day, offering additional time for fun and relaxation after the regular camp day concludes. This service is provided on a weekly basis for campers enrolled in Wyandot Next or Teen Adventure Camp. To participate, advance online registration is required, as daily or drop-in enrollment is not permitted. Dublin residents and school district residents can register starting on March 6. Non-residents can register on March 12. Priority registration is not available.
The purpose of our CIT program is to provide participants with training in how to use effective leadership skills throughout their lives and how to work effectively with children at camp and in many other settings. CIT programs teach management and leadership skills and can provide basic training in such skills as first aid, group leadership, time management and a variety of additional skills. CITs are placed at one of the Wyandot Camp locations and assist in administering the camp program and executing camp logistics such as drop-off, pick-up, songs and games, and equipment set up and take down. In addition, CITs work with the Camp Supervisor and Assistant Supervisors of curriculum to organize and conduct classes, prepare lesson plans and lead activity sessions. The CIT program is an educational program, with curricula designed to develop the people and technical skills necessary to be an effective Camp Counselor. It is not “working” at camp. A CIT is still technically a camper and therefore bound by many of the same rules and restrictions as regular campers. We require CITs to attend camp during regular camp sessions. Since the CIT program is a training program, CITs are not paid. CITs must complete one week of mandatory training (June or July) and can attend an additional one to two weeks of their choosing. Training must be completed first before attending additional weeks of camp. Dublin residents and school district residents can register starting on March 6. Non-residents can register on March 12. Priority registration is not available. Please note: CITs are required to interview for acceptance into this program. Interview information is emailed after completing registration. No payment is required at the time of registration.
