JEFFREY TAUBER—BIO
Some of you know me from pickleball, Sunday couples golf, our fund- raising efforts for Jupiter Medical, or from my time as Chairman of the External Affairs Committee.
Jane and I moved to Frenchman ’ s Creek in 2021 and, like many of you, we immediately fell in love with this extraordinary community. The warmth of the membership, the quality of the amenities, and the pride people take in this club are truly exceptional. Frenchman ’ s Creek is not just a place to live - it is a community we are fortunate to call home. It is special, and it is worth pro- tecting. Professional Background My career has been built around identifying opportunity, creating value, and leading organizations through growth and change. After graduating with a degree in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, I began my career in the executive training program at Bloomingdale ’ s. As a buyer responsible for home textiles products to apparel I had the rare distinction of being named Federated Buyer of the Year at 24 years old. That expe- rience taught me early lessons in accountability, margins, inventory discipline, and consumer value — les- sons that have stayed with me throughout my career. I then joined my family ’ s company, Avanti Linens, helping lead extraordinary growth during a transforma- tive era in home furnishings retail as Bed Bath & Beyond and Linens & Things reshaped the marketplace. We navigated rapid expansion, shifting consumer trends, and increasingly competitive cost pressures - all while maintaining profitability and brand strength. In 1994, before most people even knew what the Internet would become, I founded Cybershop.com - the first online department store. We completed a successful initial public offering on NASDAQ in August 1998. Building a public company in the earliest days of e-commerce required vision, risk management, and disciplined execution. After a timely exit at 39, I “ retired ” in 2000… until Jane wisely encouraged me to find a new challenge. Over the next two decades, I acquired, integrated, and grew ten companies in the home textile space, ultimately selling the final business in June 2024. Along the way, Jane and I also launched and owned a landmark restaurant in Short Hills, New Jersey - Boxcar. For more than 30 years, I was an active member of Young Presidents ’ Organization (YPO), learning alongside world-class CEOs and business leaders about governance, strategic planning, succession, and financial stewardship.
Across all of these experiences, the constants were clear : • Disciplined oversight matters. • Transparency matters. • Strong balance sheets matter. • And leadership must always serve stakeholders first.
