A Year for Self-Improvement Why I’m Recommitting to Transparency in 2020
Haddasha and Destiny should be a big help in fulfilling one of my resolutions for the new year: increasing my firm’s efficiency. However, with my other resolution of recommitting to transparency, I’m on my own to follow through. As I become an older, more seasoned lawyer, I’ve gotten additional perspective on my habits in the office and the courtroom. Over this past year, I’ve realized that one area I could use improvement in is choosing my cases more carefully. I became a lawyer so that I could help people get out of tough situations, so it’s tempting to say“yes”to everyone who walks through my door with a legal problem. Unfortunately though, not every case is a winnable case, and taking on a case without good odds of success does more harm than good in the long run. That’s where my resolution to recommit to transparency comes in. From the very start of my career, I’ve prioritized being honest with my clients and potential clients, but I’ve also been optimistic —perhaps overly so. For 2020, I’ve resolved to be even more transparent with everyone who comes into my office looking for help. If I’mworried they don’t have strong case — for example, if it looks like they could be at fault for their recent car accident or if I think a jury would go against them— I’m going to be fully transparent about that reality. In the end, I think this move will save heartache for everyone involved and help me prioritize giving my clients the best possible representation. A few years ago, I was able to deliver a positive outcome on a car accident case. The accident happened onTwin River Road in Lincoln when my client, a female pedestrian walking in the breakdown lane, was struck by a silver Hyundai Sonata traveling in the same direction she was.
It’s hard to believe that the 2010s are over, but here at Mike Lombardi & Associates, we are gearing up to tackle the new decade. On a broader scale, that means bringing on new staff members to better serve our clients and settle their cases more quickly, and on a personal level, it has meant taking a hard look at my habits and how I can improve upon them in the new year. Our new staffmembers have definitely been the highlight of my month so far. Haddasha Moya, our case manager, and Destiny Morales, our assistant case manager, have already started to streamline our office processes. Between them, our new hires have more than 20 years of experience in law, and I know that bringing themon board will prove to be a great investment for our firm and our clients. “Between them, our new hires have more than 20 years of experience in law, and I know that bringing them on board will prove to be a great investment for our clients.”
She sustained serious injuries, includingmultiple broken bones, but the driver claimed she was walking in the road and the accident was her fault. From the moment this case crossed my desk, I was sure I could win it for my client. I dove into representing her without hesitation and, in the end, was able to obtain a police department accident reconstruction report that revealed she wasn’t at fault. We settled her case for $250,000, the policy limit, which was just what my client needed to get back on her feet. If I prioritize cases like these in 2020, I know that I’ll be able to help more people get the justice they deserve. To start off the year, I’d love for you to put my recommitment to transparency to the test. If you’re looking for a sharp, experienced attorney to handle your motor
vehicle accident, slip- and-fall, work-related injury, or medical malpractice case, bring it to me for an honest assessment. I’m ready to fight on your side and win.
