Through outreach and case management work, they connected clients to financial relief, assisted in completing applications, referred to their legal services partners, supported domestic violence survivors, and assisted clients in any other way needed. After months of unemployment, many community members were still struggling to pay rent, utilities, healthcare, and other basic needs. Sapna NYC ran an emergency food pantry from May 2020 to September 2021 in response to the unmet need for food assistance in the East Bronx.

Save Latin America

Community members had the opportunity to continue to access a menu of programs and services throughout the grant cycle. The SLA Diabetes OutreachProgram became vital since Diabetes was identified by the CDC and the New JerseyHealth Department as one of the diseases which provided a greater exposure to COVID-19;

furthermore, the same experts identified Latinos as a vulnerable and high-risk group. The organization worked on numerous education, health, and human services that were accessed by the community through this program at Save Latin America.

Spanish Speaking Elderly Council RAICES

Despite the COVID-19 public health crisis and the temporary closing of our senior centers and case assistance programs, RAICES was able to transition o ff ering robust virtual programming for over 2,800 participants who were forcibly homebound and, in

many cases, living in isolation. We were able to grow and revamp our service delivery. Today, Raices Casa BienEstar remains fully operational, and the pattern of service provision has returned to in-person sessions and now includes telemental health.
