THE

Open the book! Volunteer assembly

WARLEY CHURCH Over the past year, the children at Abbey have been entertained by our friends from Warley Baptist Church. Our lovely volunteers come along to an assembly each half term. They dress up, bring props and present stories through drama and narration. The children get a chance to be involved too! The project is called ‘Open the Book’ and it offers children an opportunity to hear key Bible stories, consider the message in the story and

make connections to their own lives. Thanks to Mrs. Flanagan for the story. REAL LIFE SCIENCE

Year 1 enjoyed an exciting trip to Birmingham’s Thinktank last week. There were lots of exhibits to see and hands-on activities to explore. A popular feature was the newly modi fi ed ‘Mini-Brum’ area, where the children’s life skills were put to the test – negotiating, communicating, problem-solving and working as a team. The trip enriched the children’s current learning about ‘Famous Scientists and Inventors’ and prepared them for the Summer term, where we will be learning more about our bodies and animals. Many thanks to our staff and kind volunteers who helped to look after us on the day.

Thanks to Mrs. Donnelly for the story.
