Share a million stories! Promoting reading

WBD Abbey celebrated World Book Day 2020 with assemblies, dressing up as book characters, teacher story swaps and lots of booky fun! The aim of this special day is to spread the love of books and reading for pleasure, both in school and at home. We joined the world wide ‘Reading Revolution’ to try and share one million stories. Thanks to Lordswood Boys who also came into school to read with our children. Don’t forget to swap your book token at any participating bookshop by 29 th March. Remember, it only takes 10 minutes to share a story, anywhere and at any time from breakfast till bedtime. How many stories will you share?

Thanks to Mrs. Flanagan for the story.

GERM KILLING Nurses visited reception classes to talk about good hygiene and oral health. Firstly they talked about germs and how easily germs spread using glitter to demonstrate. We talked about the importance of washing our hands properly to reduce germs spreading and times when we should wash our hands, such as before eating and after going to the toilet. Next we talked about good oral health and the importance of brushing our teeth properly. We also discussed foods and drinks that are healthy and unhealthy for our teeth. The children showed very good understanding of healthy and unhealthy foods and drinks.

Thanks to Mrs. Appleby for the story.
