THE

War! Exploring history

WW2 At the beginning of the new term, Y6 went to Weston Park to learn about what life was like to live in Britain during WW2. When we arrived we were welcomed by three kind volunteers who were going to show us a glimpse of life back in 1940s wartime Britain. First we went into the hall and acquired our gas mask boxes that we needed to carry at all times. After that, we went went to see a dirty cramped Anderson Shelter before receiving our ration booklets and watching a short fi lm. When we fi nished, we went back to the hall to have our lunch. Having fi nished our lunch, we went back upstairs to learn about gas masks and make medals out of clay. With our medals safely in our bags, we tried on some WW2 clothing. This was really fun and we had a superb time. Thanks to Katherine W & Thomas A for the story. BE S.M.A.R.T Can you help us by reinforcing our e-safety messages? The Abbey website has a host of useful links and two ‘buttons’ on our homepage. We want all of our children to know about and act on the ‘safer internet messages’. Please take some time to help our children stay safe by talking about good internet habits.
