Be Prepared For Safety

* Make sure your family has a planned meeting place in the event of a fire! Does Your Family Have a Meeting Spot in the Event of a Fire? In the event a home fire, having a place to meet is a great idea in case you get separated during evacu- ation or if it ‛ s not feasible to return to your home or apartment. Meet outside your home or building - If you can ‛ t meet inside your home or apartment, meeting somewhere close by is a good first option - if it ‛ s safe to do so. Pick a spot that ‛ s very specific that everyone can remember and find easily such as a tree, a telephone pole, or mailbox.

Never play with fire.

• Dont touch matches and lighters . • Never leave candles unattended. • Keep flammable objects such as towels and paper away from the stovetop.

Don’t hide, get outside. If you hear smoke alarms going off, get yourself outside to your family’s designated meeting spot. Once you are outside, STAY OUTSIDE . Never go back into a burning building. Firefighters are your friends. Firefighters are trained to help you and your family in a fire. Never hide from a firefighter . Exit Safely. • Check doors with the back of your hand. • If the door is hot, don’t open! Take another route. • Stay low and crawl to avoid inhaling smoke. Call 911. Once you are safely outside, Call 911 to report the emergency. Stop. Drop. Roll. If your clothing catches on fire,
