"The welcomed change in seasons offers new motifs and ideas for the painter. Spring develops quickly and the fleeting moments that occurs in the landscape sometimes lasts only minutes. In the pastoral scene from my back field, the late afternoon sun creates a beam of light from the top of the budding maple growing along a line of other maples at the edge of the forest. The contrasting hues of red from the budding maples and the new spring green are reminders of a developing new season, new growth and new hopes."
