"The Firnew Farm Artists’ Circle is thrilled to announce Field & Forest, a mixed media art experience at the Firnew Barn Gallery and environs May 15, 1 – 5 PM, 19 Wolftown – Hood Road, Hood, VA. Free and open to the public. Families and children welcome! While the pandemic closed our doors, our artists opened their hearts to the natural world around us. Their return to the Farm was profound and intentional. Returning to their home, the works of forty artists will be on exhibit and for sale, but the intent is experiential. Wear your walking shoes, the barn doors will be open, and explore our artists’ creativity and love of place. Their work in mixed media has taken new boundaries and new heights. John Berry, photographer, brings his large format cows fro m Woodberry Forest’s Baker Gallery, to hang in our forest. Collaborating with Tina Wade, mixed media artist, they worked together and created forest sculptures. Textile artists, Vickie Watts and Leslie Barham created fabric and fiber sculptures of the forest floor for installation in the center of the open barn. Each element was inspired by nature and created by hand. Artist and floral designer Gail Trimmer-Unterman will create a human form made from living flowers and it will be installed in the silo. Assuring that every sense will be awakened!
