"I think of roots as mostly invisible, secretive, yet invaluable to a tree. I'm pretty sure they are far more active than I understand. I have read that there is often a symbiotic relationship between fungi and roots called a mycorrhiza. My painting is an attempt to express this energic interaction and the feeling we would experience if we could become one with them."
