"I never tire of perching myself on top of a mountain and painting the view. Painting up there can be challenging, though: the winds are considerably stronger and the temperatures colder than down below. In addition, painting three sections of a view has its own challenges. Do I make the ridges connect even though they are far apart? Should the forests run into each other? How do I place the fields in relation to each other? I was also racing with the onset of spring to complete this trio before the leaves popped out. In the end, I designed this display to give a sense of the topography and the variety of patterns with a little bit of poetic license."
