Leadership and vision: ● Excellent leadership skills and organisational sensitivity, with a capacity to lead and influence change in a complex organisation. ● Demonstrates the ability to generate ideas and to inspire and excite all and varied groups of stakeholders with regards to developments and opportunities relevant to the University’s vision and strategic ambitions. ● Understanding and appreciation of academic structures, culture, ethos and activities of a University, with an ability to apply best digital strategy practices from other cultures to a University environment. ● An ability to engage and influence academic and professional support staff in relation to key developments and opportunities. Experience: ● Experience and extensive knowledge of leading information services with a diverse range of technical and generalist stakeholders. ● Experience of delivering digital and information strategy in the context of a consumer-led environment. ● Experience of leadership and management of people, performance and resources in a large, complex organisation. ● Experience of developing and implementing

Effectiveness in driving change and strategic activity: ● Proven record of successful leadership through transformational change, through the broad field of digital and information services. ● Proactivity and managerial acuity in order to identify, gain approval for and set in motion key projects which will be of significant benefit to the University. ● Management of major projects with an organisation-wide impact and complex development and implementation plans. Proven capacity to bring large and successful projects to a successful conclusion. ● An affirmative approach, reinforced by high levels of energy and a personal commitment to problem solving. Technical Delivery: ● Strong IT technical ability, to provide credible leadership across the information services domain, supported by a comprehensive knowledge of information technology best practices, processes and future direction. ● Experience and knowledge of developing progressive information systems in an academic information context. ● An understanding of benchmarks for information technology infrastructure against which to ensure fit-for-purpose delivery in a progressive environment and to ensure the effective and efficient use of the University’s information infrastructure and resources. ● Professional credibility based on a strong technical background that includes software development, infrastructure services and architecture.
