Job Title: Production & Materials Manager
Reports to: General Manager
Overview Starrett Kinemetric Engineering, Inc., a Starrett subsidiary located in Laguna Hills is looking for a Production & Materials Manager . The company produces Optical Video based measurement and inspection systems used in a broad range of precision measuring applications by industries such as medical manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, defense, automotive and many others. The position is responsible for manufacturing and materials management including purchasing, in-house machining, and executing the proper flow of orders and related materials through the assembly area. This is a direct hire opportunity, with compensation based on experience and skillset.
Position Summary
In a manufacturing environment, drives the long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing all manufacturing operations, including; • Manufacturing, production control, facility maintenance and inventory control • Materials functions such as purchasing, and shipping/receiving activities. • Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of other departments. • Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products. • Develops operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures. • Maintains safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility. • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business , Manufacturing Management or related field, or equivalent work experience. • 5+ years of leadership experiencing, with at least 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment • Experience managing Supply Chain in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. • Excellent written and oral communications skills • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to synthesize complex/diverse information and come up with timely solutions • Demonstrates abilities to prioritize, plan work activities, as well as set goals and objectives • Possesses a quality and continuous improvement orientation • Knowledgeable in the mathematical concepts of probability and statistical inference, accounting, inventory, manufacturing, order processing, and project management. • Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
We are looking for candidates that have: •
Purchasing/supply chain experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. • Experience using an MRP/ERP system (the company uses NumberCruncher). • Proficient in MS Office Suite. • QuickBooks experience is a plus. • Strong organizational skills to maintain the flow of work. • Able to accurately document and report information. • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal employees and customers. • Ability to work both independently and in a team-environment is essential
