FAMILY RETREATS WITH A PURPOSE CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING

Get Away to Come Together
Imagine this: a fun-filled vacation with your family, bursting with adventures and experiences they’ll never forget. Woven throughout the excitement, you also gather for life-changing moments where you reflect on family values, share insights, and set goals for finding increased meaning, hope, faith, and lasting happiness. For the Andrew family retreats, we’ve gathered at the family cabin in the Wasatch Mountains, the condo in St. George, the timeshares in Hawaii, and even the family room at our house. It doesn’t matter how we get there or where we gather; it just matters that we get together, and that we do so with intention. I’m talking about Family Retreats with a Purpose. It might be surprising that my inaugural article for the launch of our newsletter is all about family getaways (rather than a piece on the tax-free income you can access from Indexed Universal Life insurance) — but I’m more than a financial strategist.
I’m an advocate for all 3 Dimensions of Authentic Wealth, and the Foundational and Intellectual Dimensions are just as critical for your family’s success. So, read on to learn more about how

Infinite Banking With Indexed Universal Life
SO MANY WAYS TO ‘RETREAT’ Family Retreats with a Purpose can be as simple as an evening at your home or as elaborate as a several-day vacation. They can be held in conjunction with holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Eve/Day. They can also be a one-day getaway to an amusement park or a long weekend at the Grand Canyon. The idea is to get together regularly (at least once a year, if not more), and along with fun activities, schedule time to reinforce family values and participate in meaningful exercises.

To give you an idea of what has worked for the Andrew family, here’s the general flow of things at our biannual retreats in Maui, Hawaii, where we gather with the entire family, including adult children and their families:
•
We play, play, play the rest of the day.
• Then we gather for dinner at night and share I Remember When stories (one of our 3 Dimensional Wealth tools I talk about in my book, “Entitlement Abolition”).
• We typically get away together for 7–10 days.
• Before going, we determine a few things: primary purpose, secondary purpose, theme, and focused reading (uplifting books — one to read before arriving, one to read while there).

SEND YOUR KIDS TO CAMP … GRANDPARENTS’ CAMP
CREATE MEMORIES WITH A RETREAT DEDICATED TO THE GRANDKIDS
The older kids (ages 12 and up) get the full-week experience; the kids ages 8 to 11 join them on Days 3 and 4, and finally the littles (ages 4 to 6) arrive for Days 5 and 6.
Every spring it starts — our daughters start asking, “When is it? Is it soon? How long do we have to wait?” They’re talking about the annual Family Retreat with a Purpose that my parents have designed exclusively for the grandkids, which they’ve affectionately named Grandpa’s Camp. I’m grateful to my parents, Doug and Sharee, for being the kind of grandparents that are so intentional about impacting their grandkids. They do so much for all of our kids year-round, but the biggest event is the week they dedicate every summer to hosting this intensive, wall-to-wall fun- and-values adventure just for the grandkids. It’s become legendary in our family — all of the cousins look forward to their time at the family cabin, soaking up experiences with their grandparents and each other.
Now that my daughters are older (almost 13 and 11), they get to help with the younger kids’ crafts and games, which they love. They can’t stop talking about the big-kid activities, like archery and zip-lining. And they also like the lessons on the theme each year (like the U.S. Constitution and Founding Fathers, the 10 Commandments, etc.). For Heather and I, we can’t say enough how happy we are that our daughters have these experiences to bond with their extended family and focus on values. (And sometimes it seems like they’re more open to hearing life advice from Grandma and Grandpa than us, and we’re perfectly fine with that!) If you’re a grandparent, think about holding your own Grandparents’ Camp. It doesn’t have to be a week away at a cabin — it can be a day or two at your home. Whatever you do, it’s a time to focus on fun and values, and make memories that can last a lifetime.

It’s summertime, which means you finally have an opportunity to spend more time with your children and grandchildren. You can use these months to make memories that reinforce the Intellectual and Foundational Dimensions. Here are a few ways to learn and grow together! VISIT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. Make a habit of visiting your local library once a week for your family to pick out books they can read. You can challenge them to see how many books they can complete over the summer. Although they may read educational books for school, now is their time to pick out something they want to read just for fun. Some libraries offer summer reading programs and activities that your family can participate in. By going to the library over the summer, your family’s’ minds will stay engaged, and their love for reading can increase. GO TO LOCAL ATTRACTIONS. In most states, there are history and science museums, art galleries, and zoos that you and your family can visit. If these attractions are state-funded, they often have free admission for visitors. These activities are great for children who are visual learners. They can touch and interact with exhibits and learn more about history or science. Who said learning couldn’t be both fun and educational? CREATE A CRAFT STATION. Do you have creative children or grandchildren? Then a craft station is a perfect activity to get their creative minds turning! You can either go to your big-box store and pick up some arts and crafts supplies, or you can use items from around your home, such as used printer paper, toilet paper rolls, old colored pencils or crayons, and items from nature. If you need inspiration on what to make, you can look online for different crafts your family can create. VISIT PARKS AND RECREATION AREAS. Summer camps can be expensive; luckily, some parks and recreation centers host day camps that are much cheaper than private camps. Sometimes they will have daily activities that your children or grandchildren can participate in to burn off some energy. If you’re looking for a place where they can play outside and stay active, going to your local parks is a great resource. If they aren’t hosting day camps, you and your family can play outside by throwing a Frisbee, having a picnic, or going on a nature walk. 4 ACTIVITIES TO KEEP THE KIDS BUSY SCHOOL’S OUT! reading on the trip, family vision and personal goals, and story time for the kids.
• In addition, we enact the $2 Rule throughout the entire trip. This is a fun way to make sure everyone is dealing above the line, by being responsible and accountable (rather than dealing below the line, in the zones of blame, justification, and shame). A LASTING IMPACT Imagine your family years down the road, with several Family Retreats with a Purpose part of your history — and legacy. Your children and grandchildren will have had the opportunity to learn life-changing strategies for meaningful living, and you’ll have endless stories to bring up during future I Remember When sessions! INFINITE BANKING WITH INDEXED UNIVERSAL LIFE
You might be borrowing at one rate, while your money is still in the policy potentially earning a higher rate. You can earn a spread on the money you’re borrowing, making it possible to pursue the business venture, while your money is still at work in the policy. This same “be your own banker” principle applies to other needs you might have, such as retirement income, educational expenses for your children or grandchildren, emergency funds, etc.
What is infinite banking,
and how can this concept make a difference in your financial future?
If you’re familiar with 3 Dimensional Wealth financial strategies, you’ll know one of our favorite financial vehicles is a properly structured, maximum-funded Indexed Universal Life insurance policy, or what we call an IUL LASER Fund, and you’ll also know that it’s ideal for infinite banking.
Explore how these strategies can free you from the tax trap and empower your financial future. Scan here to order your FREE copy of “The LASER Fund” book!
These policies can provide powerful advantages:
• LIQUIDITY: You can access the money in your policy tax-free for retirement income, business capital, education, etc.
• SAFETY: You not only have the safety of the insurance industry (with flagship companies that have sailed through the Great Depression and Great Recession), but your principal is also protected by a 0% guaranteed floor during market downturns.
• PREDICTABLE RATES OF RETURN: Historically, IUL LASER Funds have provided 5%–10% average annual returns.
• TAX ADVANTAGES: With these policies, your money can grow tax-free, you can access your money tax-free, and upon your passing, you can transfer your money to your heirs income-tax free. • INDEXING STRATEGIES: With indexing strategies, your policy can be LINKED TO the market without your money actually being IN the market. This empowers you to benefit during market up-years and to be protected during market- down years with a 0% guaranteed floor.
•
INFINITE BANKING OPPORTUNITIES - IUL LASER Funds can help you become your own banker.
Let’s look at an example of how this works: Let’s say you have a business venture coming up. You could borrow from the bank — or you can borrow from yourself. With your IUL policy, you can access capital from your policy tax-free via an Alternate Loan.

they will achieve that vision from about 55% to over 90%.)
To stay close, the Andrew family (which now includes Doug and Sharee’s six children and 20 grandchildren) holds Family Retreats with a Purpose about every two years in Maui.
They then walk through the resources they need to move forward, the experiences they can draw from, the action steps they are going to take, and the knowledge they need to fulfill their goals. “I remember one year in Maui we reflected on the past couple years’ experiences,” said Doug. “Talk about an amazing payday as a parent! Our six children and their families reported on one of the top three things that they had circled as most important. “That included everything from finding a spouse, overcoming infertility issues to start a family, and buying a home to pursuing higher education with the help of a scholarship and a great new job. And even though they could not see how it would come to fruition two years earlier, it had all happened.”
Everyone knows the biannual Maui trip is on the calendar, and they plan ahead to save, schedule, and do what it takes to be there.
Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes to see one of the values- based activities they add to the fun, sun, and surf in Maui.
They ask the children and older grandchildren to take 15 minutes to write down their response to this question: When we meet here two years from today, looking back, what has to have happened for you to be happy with the progress that you have made with all of your assets? NO. 2: STEPSTONE FALLS (BEN UTTER TRAIL), RHODE ISLAND If you’re in Rhode Island, especially in spring, you won’t want to miss this perfect trail. Follow this walk along a picturesque river and you’ll see fabulous slabs, cascades, woods, and much more. Unlike the popular — and often busy — White Mountain trails, this one is relatively quiet with its narrow foot path. It’s also a gentle walk, being mostly flat with some alternating, gentle ups and downs. It’s a great walk for all ages.
If you’re planning a Family Retreat With a Purpose this summer and you come from a family of nature lovers, consider turning your retreat into a cross-country vacation! Taking a trip to a beautiful hiking spot will make your gathering even more memorable. Here are a few top-notch locations to consider in Northeast. NO. 1: WHITE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST, NEW HAMPSHIRE If you want to visit an enchanted forest, look no further than White Mountain National Forest! Whether you want to hike its various mountain ranges to spy some gorgeous views, wind through an endless sea of trees, or spot a plethora of unique local fauna and flora, this beautiful national forest has a trail for everyone. You can even hike the Appalachian Trail to walk a mile in our American ancestors’ shoes.
area for visitors. It’s very convenient, but make sure to arrive early in warmer months and on weekends — the road is not an option for parking. The trail offers stunning views of Vermont because of the high elevation, but it may be challenging if you’re afraid of heights. The last part of the trail is quite steep, but once you reach the peak, you’ll see an incredible 360-degree view of the surrounding area. On a clear day, you can even see Canada!
NO. 3: CAMEL’S HUMP TRAIL, VERMONT
As the third highest peak in the state, Camel’s Hump Trail offers unbeatable views in nearly every direction. It’s easy to reach the trailhead, as it’s just off Camel’s Hump Road with a small parking

GOING SOCIAL AS A FAMILY Our team here at 3 Dimensional Wealth includes everyone from young parent to grandparents, and one way we all connect with our families is through social media! The Andrew family, for example, uses WhatsApp for a big family group chat including grandparents, grandkids, and everyone in between. Staying connected with family is important, and these days the youngest members of yours are probably on TikTok. With a bit of creativity, you can connect with your family by following in these influencers’ footsteps.
These Influencers Prove You Can Go Digital, Too!
Another “granddad” is following suit. @Grandadjoe1933 has more than 5 million followers, and his videos include numerous trends and duets. Grandad Joe’s videos also include candid and humorous expressions of grief over the death of his wife, recovery from a heart attack, and support for his granddaughter through eating disorder recovery. Lovingly profiling another phase of life, @charlesmallet was created for Charles Mallet by his granddaughter, Basia Mallet, as a way to help him cope with Alzheimer’s. Basia helps her grandfather create the videos for his channel, which has become known for dances, cooking videos, and sweet moments between grandfather and granddaughter. She says Charles’ memory is improving, and she credits the videos for helping supply a better quality of life for her grandfather. “He’s so much more vibrant about life. He’s been happy, smiling,” Basia told AARP. “His quality of life has just gotten better all over.”
For instance, there’s @Grandadfrankk , whose dances and obvious love for his wife has won over the hearts of nearly 7 million followers. Frank dances with his grandchildren, wife, and even “duets” videos with other stars, making his own dance moves to accompany videos of other people dancing. Throughout many of his videos, he adds a message of positivity and a new take on trends. Younger families like @thekabsfamily share their day-to-day antics with the world. With nearly 2 million followers on TikTok (and millions more on YouTube and Instagram), they’re an example of infusing regular life with fun and laughter. Funny daddy/daughter moments can also be found on @choungdo , where little Mavis’ interactions with her dad have garnered nearly 400,000 fans. The duo provides inspiration for making the most of the silly, wild, and endearing experiences of raising a family.
All this goes to show you can have fun coming together as a family on TikTok, capturing whatever it is that makes your family unique.

HOW BUSINESS RETREATS WITH A PURPOSE CAN REDEFINE THE OFFICE
It’s so important to keep your mind fresh and active every day, especially through exciting and creative outlets. As it relates to the Intellectual Dimension, increasing our mental abilities isn’t only about professional or personal education — it can be fun, too! If you’re one of the 300,000 people who play the vocabulary- themed guessing game Wordle every day, we have good news: There are more online games just like it! Wordle went viral in October 2021. Although few people know it, the game actually started with romance. Software engineer Josh Wardle (yep, that’s where the name “Wordle” comes from) created it for his partner, Palak Shah. According to NPR, Palak loves word games — so to keep her entertained during COVID-19, Josh made her one! In January, he sold it to The New York Times for more than $1 million. Guessing the word of the day in six tries is addicting, and so is sharing your success on social media. But that spark might not last forever. To avoid total Wordle burnout and/or keep the fun going between daily puzzles, try these five other online games that also involve words, guessing games, or both. QUORDLE: Wordle masters love Quordle, which is the same basic game — except you have to guess four words at once on four different boards. You have just nine tries to solve the four daily puzzles, so bring your A game! Try it at Quordle.com. STAR WORDLE: As you probably guessed, this is Wordle for “Star Wars” fans. The process is the same as with normal Wordle, but all of the five-letter words come from the “Star Wars” books and movies. Test your knowledge at StarWordle.com. NERDLE: Love words and math? This is the Wordle spinoff for you. Instead of guessing a word, players try to fill in a daily math equation and solution. Solve them at NerdleGame.com. WORLDLE: Leaving words behind entirely, in this game you guess the name of a country or territory from its outline! You have six chances, and each time you miss one, the game will give you more information about where the country is located relative to you. Play now at Worldle.teuteuf.fr. WORDS WITH FRIENDS: This isn’t a Wordle spinoff, but if you’ve never played it, you’ll probably love it! Words With Friends is basically Scrabble for just two players, and you can play online or over the
Do you lead a team at work? If so, you can take the Family Retreats with a Purpose concept and transform it for business. Business Retreats with a Purpose help you do more than talk sales or product strategies — they provide opportunities to give your team values-based tools for their personal lives as well.
At 3 Dimensional Wealth, we want our team to enjoy the benefits of an abundant life in the workplace and in their personal lives. Part of that abundance comes through teamwork, because TEAM stands for “Together Everyone Achieves More.”
To help you with ideas, here’s what we’ve learned.
Set aside a day or two — preferably away from the office — where you can blend a mix of fun with purposeful lessons on teamwork, abundance, and empowerment. The time and resources invested can make a big difference as employees return to the tasks at the office with a renewed sense of abundance and cooperation. Sometimes we meet outside the office at a cabin or somewhere special, and we focus on topics that can bring about personal growth. We discuss things like having a positive focus and aiming for three wins a day. We also explore how employees can develop 3 Dimensional Wealth values with their own families. We dive into how to deal with crises and deadlines and how to hold Family Retreats with a Purpose. For one of our favorite company retreats, we led our Conscious Communicator exercise, another of our 3 Dimensional Wealth tools. It only takes about 45 minutes, and it dramatically improves communication between employees and supervisors, husbands and wives, business partners, company and customers/clients — really any relationship you care about.
Following the exercise, communication always improves, and many of our employees shared that it was a game-changer when they went home and did the exercise with their spouses and children. Business Retreats with a Purpose are a powerful way to impact your team — both at the office and at home.

BREAKING THE HABIT If you have kids or grandkids, there are tips for helping them cut down on screen time. As grandparents, you may not have a day-to-day influence on grandkids’ screen time, but you can encourage their parents to adopt these strategies. And when the grandkids are over? You can consider having the kids dock their devices and instead focus on creating conversation, games, and fun. Time together creates great opportunities for reinforcing the Foundational and Intellectual Dimensions. The science is clear: Too much screen time can lead to kids experiencing developmental delays, poor sleep, and weight gain. And yet, kids love those small glowing devices. To keep your children healthy, you need to find a way to set limits. But how can you create rules around their favorite pastimes without causing a lot of drama? CREATE REALISTIC RULES. You know your family best. Review the American Academy of Pediatrics’ best practices for screen time online, then consider what’s both healthy and doable. Maybe the ultimate screen time spent will be more than the experts suggest, but an improvement is better than no change. Determine usage limits and establish device-free times. Then create clear expectations and consequences, and don’t back down from enforcing them. TAKE THE DEVICES AWAY. It is not a punishment, though it might feel like one to your kids at first. But it’s actually helping them by removing the temptation. Your elementary school child will be less likely to get sucked into
HOW TO CUT THE KIDS’ SCREEN TIME
a YouTube hole, and your teen won’t send “just one” text at dinner if the device isn’t right there. Keep these devices out of sight during no-use time and put them away once your kids have met their daily limits. In the end, it will make things easier. SPEND MORE TIME TOGETHER. Giving your children your undivided attention is incredibly valuable, even if it’s only for short periods. Figure out how you can create more face time (not FaceTime). Start conversations and play games to spend time together as a family. Even better, get outside! If you’re willing to spend time with them and act a little silly, your kids will have more fun kicking a ball around rather than playing Roblox. Better yet, you’ll both get some exercise. Finally, consider the example you’re setting. It’s hard to blame kids for their screen addiction when adults also have trouble prying themselves away from laptops, tablets, and phones. Think about how you can reduce your own screen time and consider installing an app that tracks your usage like StayFree or Social Fever. You might be surprised at how much time you spend staring at a little screen — and be inspired to cut back.
