AGE REPORT The age report for your site compares your catchment population to the national population, both in terms of actual numbers and % of the population for each age band. The index then reveals any biases – any age
groups over-represented in your catchment compared to the national average. We show total figures, then estimated age bands by gender – male and female.
As mentioned on page 19, this Harlow catchment has higher than average numbers of families. The table below demonstrates this; the index scores for 30-44 years are all above 100, as are the index scores for children, specifically those in the 0-9 age bracket. Conversely, the number of 18-29 year olds is lower than average. At the other end of the age spectrum, we can also see that there are below average numbers of 50+ year olds. Almost 38% of the population in England are 50 or over; however, in this Harlow catchment, the figure is below 33%. In terms of gender, 51.5% of the catchment population is female compared to 48.5% male. The figures in England as a whole are 50.5% female vs 49.5% male.
