POPULAR EVENING CLASSES How the Work of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles Touches the Religious Life of the City and its Nearby Suburbs

T HE Bible Institute o f Los Angeles ,i through its Popular Evening Classes, conducted every Friday night in the Bible Institute Auditorium, is making its influ ence for good felt, not only upon the churches o f Los Angeles, but also on those o f the surrounding suburbs for many miles. The average attendance at these classes is over 1200. At an enrollment taken, in which 695 persons o f those present signed enrollment cards, the following interesting facts were gathered: T. One hundred thirty-one individual churches were represented, which means that members from this number o f churches are in regular attendance upon these Fri day night classes. 2. Thirty-six different denominations are represented. As an illustration, there are representatives in these classés from 20 different Methodist Episcopal churches, 15 Presbyterian churches, 13 Baptist churches, 5 Episcopal churches, 7 Christian churches, 4 Lutheran churches, 4 Congre- tional churches, in Los Angeles and suburbs. This is a fair illustration o f the large denominational representation. 3. In addition to churches in Los Ange

les itself, 29 suburban churches are repre sented. W e have in mind one instance in which 20 members come from a church in one o f the suburbs, thirty or forty miles from the city. 4. Many o f those who are in attendance are tourists. The following States and coun tries were represented in this enrollment: Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Ken tucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jer sey, New Mexico, North Dakota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Wash ington, Washington, D.
