(1 Cor. 15:22, 23; Rev. 20:5), but ulti mately every dead man shall hear His voice and shall come forth : “ In Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Cor. 15:22), i. e., as the context clearly shows, shall get resurrec tion. But to, some this resurrection will be á “ resurrection o f judgment,” .a resurrec tion “to shame and everlasting contempt” (Dan. 12:2). But to those who have done good, who have obeyed the voice o f -God, who have believed On His Son (fo r that is the one act that is doing good in God’s sight) (ch. 6:29), it Shall be a “resur rection o f life.” These verses tell us o f three witnesses to Jesus: (1) John the Baptist (vs. 32- 35). He came into the world for the express purpose o f bearing witness to Jesus that all men through Him might believe (John 1:7). “ He was sent from God.” He was a burning and shining light, and bore witness that JesUs, was the “Lamb o f God,” the “ Son o f God,” and “ Baptizer with the Holy Ghost.” (2)' The Father Himself which sent Jesus, bore witness to Him by the divine works which He gave Him to do, and by the audible voice from heaven (vs. 36-38). This testimony was not received by the Jews because they had not God’s W ord abiding in them. (3) The Old Testament Scripture also bpre witness to Jesus (v. 39, R. V .). The Old Testa ment is full o f Him. The testimony o f Jesus is the spirit o f prophecy. " He is the key, and the only key, to the Old Testa ment. That man is blind indeed who Can not see Jesus everywhere in the Old Testa ment. But even with this wonderful three fold testimony to Jesus, that o f John, that- o f the Father through the works He did, and that Of the Old Testament Scriptures in which they professed to believe that they had eternal life, the Jews would not come to Him, therefore they did not get life. The whole reason why any one fails to get life is summed up in six short words: “Ye will not còme to me.” Saturday, May 15.. John 5:30-40. '

life and eternal perdition. Furthermore, “ what our character is” is determined by what we really believe.. No one who really believes that “Jesus'is the Christ the Son of God” will be wrong in character (1 John. 5:1-5), and nd one who does not believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God: will be.'right in character. To get eternal life) then, this is what one must do (and all that he needs to do) just listen to: Jesus' and really believe God’s testimony about Him. And what then?’ This: Any One who does this," the moment he does it “ hath"eternal life (it is his present posses-' sion,)., and cometh n o t: into judgment” (i. e., judgment is past and gone from him forever, Rom. 8:1. and he “hath passed out o f death into life.” I f any one wishes to., (mow whether he has eternal life or not, he need not look at his feelings, just let him ask himself, Have I heard these words? Do I believe the testimony of God who sent Him? .If so you have eter nal life. Friday,, May, 12. John 5:26-29. By nature we "are all “ dead,” dead through our trespasses and sins (Eph. 2 :1 ). But The Son not only has life in Himself; but has power to impart that life to others. His voice has power to raise the dead. If you are dead, “ hear the voice o f the Son o f God” and you “shall live.” Oh! the way o f life is so simple, just listen—that is all —listen to’ Jesus’ voice, H e has “the words o f eternal life” (cf, ch. 6:68), and he that listens, lives. Our Lord having spoken o f life now goes on to speak o f resurrec tion. ' Life is something we get at the moment we believe, resurrection is some thing that we shall get hereafter, viz., at Christ’s return (vs. 28, 29; cf. 1 Thess. 4:16, 17). All that are in their tombs, or graves, shall some time hear His voice, both good and bad, and all shall be raised when they do hear His voice, both good and bad. W e are not told here that they shall all be raised at the same moment, and we learn from" other Scriptures that they will not be raised at the same moment
