event featured a presenta- tion by Mayor Sandy Green, Kutztown’s first woman mayor since the borough’s incorporation in 1819. Mayor Green spoke about her focus in promoting community safety, enhancing relation- ships with Kutztown Uni- versity, and encouraging economic development. As a board member of Kutztown
Community Partnership, a non-profit organization dedi- cated to the revitalization and preservation of down- town Kutztown, the mayor played a primary role in help- ing Kutztown to receive the Main Street designation from Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development. “Keepin’ it in Kutztown” is an initiative
to cross-pollinate customers between shops, restaurants, and other businesses as well as educational and cultural attractions. Following the event, GREP hosted a dinner at the Kutz- town Tavern, a casual, up- scale restaurant featuring contemporary American cui- sine with local flair and hand- crafted microbrews. ■
