POSTING SCORES/HANDICAPPING

Our goal is to make this a fun year by ensuring accurate handicaps for all golfers at Talking Rock. In order to have an accurate handicap that truly represents your Level of ability, scores from all acceptable golf rounds and tournament rounds should be posted. To help ensure an accurate handicap: • Post all scores on the same day that you play as the World Handicap System updates handicaps daily. • The maximum score allowed for posting purposes is Net Double Bogey. This is equivalent to 2 strokes over par plus any strokes you would receive on a hole based on our handicap. • If you are a 10 handicap you get a stroke on the 10 most difficult rated holes. • If you are unsure of your maximum allowable score per hole, please contact the Golf Shop we will be happy to assist you. • If the score does not get posted within a week’s time of the notifica- tion, the golf shop will post a score of par. • Rule 2.1 states that solo rounds (played by yourself) are not post-able rounds so there is no need to post those. • The Golf Shop will post all tournament scores as well as Men’s and Ladies’ Day. If you have any questions or comments, you can reach the committee at trrhcap@gmail.com. Handicap Committee Members : Heather Van Name-Chairperson, Joe Cogar, Jeff Morse, Randy Joly, Mary Jo McMil- lan, and Shawn Scott.

INSTRUCTION PROGRAMS

OPERATION 36 GOLF ACADEMY

TR is proud to provide one of the most popular instructional programs in the world of golf

It teaches players to work on their game from the green backward. The players first goal is to shoot 36 from 25 yards from the green for 9-holes. After doing this, the player will “grad- uate” to longer distances until they eventually play from their usual tee box. This program emphasizes “Playing” the game of golf. Details for the instructional program are on the following pages.

PACE OF PLAY

Please keep up with the group in front of you. We expect groups of four to play in no more than 4 hours when teeing off in a prime time (first tee time until 2:00 pm). If you would like to play more casually and at a slower pace, please play after 2:00 pm and let faster groups play through. Pace of Play: •All groups are required to play 18 holes in no more than four (4) hours. •The golf professional staff will be present on the golf course to ensure all groups are in position. •If the tee sheet allows, slower groups should allow those playing faster to play through. If every tee time is filled slower groups are not required to let faster groups play through as long as they are on a Four (4) Hours or less pace. • Out of Position – A group is considered out of position by how much time it is taking them to play a number of holes or if they have an open hole in front of them and a group waiting behind them.

Play Ready Golf to avoid being relocated. Below are some helpful tips: Play from a tee box yardage that suits you and your guest(s) playing ability.

When walking: All players in the group should walk to their balls separately and choose their club and go through their pre-shot routine while the player farthest from the hole is hitting so that you are ready to hit when it is your turn. When driving a cart: Drive out to the player in the cart’s ball who is furthest away, let them choose a club and then drive to the closer ball and go through your routine while the farther away players are hitting so you are ready to hit when it’s your turn. Please do not “caravan” from ball to ball. When on the tee: Figure out “money games” on the range not the first tee. If the player who has the honor is not ready to hit another player should tee off. Please keep conversations on the tee to a minimum. When looking for a ball: USGA Rules of Golf search limit is 3 minutes. One person help look while the other two hit their shots. Once they have hit their shots and arrive to help look the third person should hit their shot to ensure that all players have already once the ball is found.

cially if it is a tap in. • When the hole is complete: • Write all scores down on the next tee. • Do not “linger” by the green delaying the group behind you from hitting their approach. When the hole is complete: • Write all scores on the next tee. • Do not linger by the green delating the group behind you from hitting their approach

NON GOLFER ACCESS TO AND THROUGH GOLF COURSE

As the membership continues to grow and more homes are being built, we are seeing more non-golf traffic on the golf course. We understand that it is convenient to use the cart path to walk or drive your cart to the clubhouse. Many residents also enjoy utilizing the golf course for exercise, sightseeing, watching the sunset or passing through to the clubhouse. There are restrictions on this access that all residents must abide by.

Please adhere to the following guidelines as to when and where the course is accessible to non-golf traffic:

1. Residents may walk on back 9 cart paths only in the mornings but must be off the golf course ar- eas by 8:30 throughout the year. Only the back 9 will be used for walking (Holes 10-18). Pets must be always on leash and remain on cart path. All walkers must remain on the path at all times. Access points will be marked by signs. 2. Members and guests may not walk on any golf cart path during golf hours of the club, this includes walking to the clubhouse area except as outlined here. The only walking access would be through Phase 5/6 connection for residents (Hole #9) of the cottage phases only. All other phases should arrive at the clubhouse via the streets by walking, cart access or vehicle access only. There is one walking trail from Silent moon park that allows residents to walk to and from the clubhouse. This is the only walking access point for non-cottage owners. Other allowable trails navigate around Talking Rock Ranch Road and the driving range and bring members to the club via trails. 3. Traveling to and from the clubhouse during golf hours. Members traveling to the clubhouse may use the Hole #9 cart path only by navigating only with a golf cart. Once the road connection from Cooper Hawk Ridge extends through to Talking Rock Ranch Road this access point will be eliminated for all non-golf traffic. There is an additional connection point through phase 5 down the cart path on hole #9 as an additional access and exit point. No walking or non-golf compliant carts are allowed on hole #9 or any other cart path during golf hours. Only those with golf cart trail fees are allowed on these path connections on hole #9. All non-trail fee carts are remanded to the streets for access to and from the club areas. Parking will be allowed near the Corral bar or in parking lot areas for golf cart access to the club. Parking must be in designated areas only.

4. Golfers always have the right of way in all areas of the course. Please observe proper golf etiquette (see below).

Proper etiquette when you encounter golfers while on the course: • Do not walk or drive toward golfers when they are hitting or preparing to hit a shot. Stay out of range (300+ yards) and stop movement until they finish. • A good rule of thumb is to move (by cart or walking) when their cart is moving. • If they wave you through, please proceed with caution. Penalties for not conforming to cart path access procedures (2024) 1. First offense will be a warning with the member(s) receiving a copy of the rules of the areas. 2. Second offense will be suspension from all access to the area in accordance to violation for the rest of the year 3. Third offense will be suspension from all club amenities for one month.

• You may register for the “Hole-in-One Club” by notifying the Golf Shop. • Once you have registered for the Club, you will remain a member unless you notify the Golf Staff and request to be removed. If you already are a member, there is no need to sign-up again. • The initial fee is $8 when you signup (those of you in the current HIO Club will be carried over and will not pay this initial fee). Everyone in the HIO Club will be billed $8 each time another member of the HIO Club makes a Hole-in-One. • When a Hole-in-One is made, it will be celebrated by listing the players name on a chalk board located in Morgan’s Bar. • All Hole-in-One Club members will receive a free drink in the bar. We will keep track of redeemed drinks with punch cards that HIO Club members will receive and present to the bartender. HIO participants can redeem their free drink at any time and aren’t required to be present when HIO is made.

TALKING ROCK AGRONOMY

Greens: G2 variety Bentgrass with Poa annua. Mowed daily in season at 1/10 of an inch height Tees: Ryegrass with Poa annua. Mowed 3x/week in season at 1/3 inch height. Fairways/Roughs: Ryegrass/Bluegrass with Poa annua. Mowed 3x/week in season at 1/2 inch height. Elevation: Clubhouse sits at 4,985 elevation. High spot on golf course is #5 tee at 5,056 feet, low spot is #12 green at 4,911 feet. Like the rest of Talking Rock, the land inspired the golf course design. Wind- ing through meadows, preserving majestic stands of trees, and complement- ing the contours of the terrain, the course offers a golfing experience that is spectacular by nature. Wide, generous landing areas, strategically placed bunkers and greens that are clearly visible from virtually every fairway shot define this course. Five sets of tees offer golfers of every skill level a chance to enjoy a relaxing, yet challenging game of golf. Talking Rock opened for play in September of 2002. It was designed by the late Jay Morrish (1936-2015). The golf course consists of 75 acres of turf. It is irrigated with 75% well water, 25% reclaimed water. It has 71 total bunkers equaling 4.6 acres of sand. The average green size is 7,000 square feet. Green speeds average 10 plus feet on a year round basis.
