ASCWU Elections Do you know who makes the decisions on how to allocate the money received from student fees? Or who makes the call to expand buildings on campus? Believe it or not, you play a big part in who does. You can affect the future here at CWU in two different ways: voting or running in the election. Either way, you can make a difference. Be the change. Why Run? So, why would someone want to run? Well, in any of these positions, you get the chance to represent and advocate for students. You will have a hand in making some huge decisions throughout next year: the multicultural center’s future direction, allocating $6 million dollars in student fees to services and activities, making decisions about new and potential student fees, and so much more. On top of that, any one of these positions would be an incredible resume builder. All positions hold great responsibility as they impact the future and current decisions regarding the university. The executive board members are paid for their hard work, up to 24 hours a week, making this a great part-time position as well. Senators are paid up to five hours and the Vice Speaker can work up to 10 paid hours a week. Why Vote? Why would someone want to vote? Your decisions could affect the future of CWU. The people who fill these positions have the ability to influence decisions affecting all CWU students. Voting allows you to voice your opinion on who you want to advocate for your needs.
