time of war. The huge fleets of bombing planes, great armies of Black Shirts, and millions of military-trained children—all these indicate that Mussolini is expecting to make further conquests. Should the Fascists win in Spain, that country might come immediately under the protection of Italy or be annexed to the new Roman Em pire. Such a movement as this might plunge Europe into the threatened clash be tween Communism and Fascism. Accord ing to Bible prophecy, the Fascists, by rea son of their location within the bounds of the old Roman Empire, are in a key posi tion to win in this contest. A conflict of this kind might place the European part of the ancient empire in the hands of the Fascists. Mussolini is making a bid for the friendship of the Arabs, and with their support he may annex eventually the ter ritory in northern Africa, Palestine, Syria, etc. We are not prophesying, but only call ing attention to the fact that conditions are such that we may witness shortly the com plete revival of the old Roman Empire. When it is revived, the way will be opened for the world empire under the dominion of the Antichrist. The combined ingenuity of man and Satan will exhaust itself in an effort to solve the world’s problems without the Lord’s help. The result will be a world plunged into a maelstrom of chaos. The Lord will return to bind Satan, break the power of every foe, and take up the reins of government. The hour is coming in which “great voices in heaven” will raise the triumphant shout: “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever” (Rev. 11:15). JINSABURO LIFTS HIS CROSS [Continued from page 337] surprise, she also placed in Matsu’s hand a gift of small book, Daily Light, and there were tears swimming in her eyes. Always we feel these foreigners care for us as blood brothers and sisters, which is a mystery, but possible to the Christian. M ay 5. Today is the boys’ congratulatory cele bration of great Japan. Uncle asked our gardener to set up the carp banners in our garden, which he did, two of them, as Uncle has two small sons. The cloth fish are very long, about twelve feet, I should suppose, and they swim straight in the wind with open mouths and gargoyle eyes. Uncle was teaching small Taro and Jiro they must ever be as the carp fish and swim against adverse currents of life with cour age and decision. They do not, I think, comprehend his meaning, but only break their necks backward to look at high ban ners flying everywhere. Aunt also arranged shelves for their an cient hero figures, and she purchased for them the figure of Jingu, our great Empress of Japan who was also mighty warrior. They always swell about like small cocks, teasing their sister, and I thought it would teach them women also can sometimes show strong intrepidity. My heart still sorrows for Matsu Chan. How can he go to so far from his family? [To be continued ]

Communists when Hitler took charge. It has taken the marching armies of tens of thousands of soldiers to keep down the revolution there. America is now suffer ing from the same communistic tactics, and the industrial revolution that is now in progress may easily produce a dictator after the order of either Stalin, Hitler, or Musso lini. Marching armies may be needed soon in America to keep order. Today, Italy is free from the pernicious poison of the “Red” propagandist. There no frothy-mouthed radical orator raises his voice to breed hatred and set class against class in an effort to foment revolution. The people of Italy realize that Mussolini has saved them from the scourge of Commun ism. Theref° re> they readily respond to his leadership, realizing that an iron man and marching armies are now necessary to the preservation of the nation. However, tfiese great events have not oc curred by chance. The Word of God pre dicts the revival of the old Roman Empire. Mussolini’s ambitions are evidently in that direction. He or one of his successors will one day be successful in reviving the an cient empire to include the territory it formerly occupied. That is the real rea son that the Communists failed in their effort to take over Italy. There are many signs that the ancient empire is going to be revived. Though Ethiopia was not in the old Roman Empire, it provides a convenient military base for Mussolini’s further exploits should he look toward controlling the Suez Canal.
