Literature for Igrael The Biblical Research Society, 44X7 Berenice Ave., Los Angeles, Calif., is pro ducing and distributing free to the Jews throughout the world a sound and schol arly literature in eight languages written from the standpoint of the Hebrew Scrip tures. David L. Cooper, the President and founder of the Society, is writing a Messi anic Series of seven volumes. The first book in the series contains among other doctrines the teaching concerning the Trin ity; the second, the Virgin Birth and the nature and person of Messiah; the third, the redemptive career of Messiah. Hun dreds of thousands of these volumes have been distributed. The fourth book is to give the chronological record showing the time of Messiah’s first coming and His re jection. The fifth book will deal with the historical appearance of Messiah. In the fall of last year, the Board of Directors of the Society felt led of God to send Dr. and Mrs. Cooper to Europe and particularly to Palestine for the purpose of doing research work for the fourth and fifth books. Dr. Cooper took with him a college professor to assist him in this task, and it was during two months of intensive work in the library of the British Museum that the research work for the fourth book was completed. This volume will appear within a few months. Data for the fifth book was gathered not only from the library of the British Museum but also from other important sources. The research party studied for a week in the Bibliotheke National of Paris, a month in the Pontifical and Vatican Libraries in Rome, a week in the libraries and museums of Athens. The members of the group also spent three months in Pal estine. While there, they gathered data from the Jewish National Library of the Hebrew University and from the Fran ciscan Library. They also made a first hand study of the Zionist rebuilding proj ect and the Arab situation. The amount and importance of the material gathered on this trip far exceeded the expectation of the research party and will aid greatly in the effort to present Christ to the Jews of the world. Home o f Onesiphorus Friends whose attention has been directed to the striking information on page 339 of this issue will be interested in the follow ing excerpts from testimonies of two Chinese girls to whom the Home of Onesiphorus, Taian, Shantung, China, has ministered in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Chuan Fang was left motherless at the age of six years. Her father had to work very hard in order to provide even a little food for the whole family. “ I thank the Lord,” says Chuan Fang, “ for sending some one at that time, perhaps a Christian, to tell my father about the Home of Onesi phorus where helpless children were being received and cared for. . . . When I entered the home, I was put in a room with other children my own age and I soon began to play joyfully with the others. . . . When I was eleven, I gave my heart to the Lord

Jesus Christ and He saved me. He gave me also a great love for His holy Word. . . . I have now been at the Home for six teen years and have received a good edu cation besides my training in the sewing department. The most precious of all is that I have learned to know the name of Jesus, the only Saviour; by His grace I have become a child of God.” Ching Chin was an unwanted girl in a poor family. “ In the year 1927,” she writes, “ a Chinese pastor helped to get me into the Home of Onesiphorus. Here the Lord had prepared good parents for me in the persons of Pastor and Mrs. Anglin. How happy I was when, at the Home, I learned to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour! Here there are several hun dreds of others like myself being cared for and trained for future service.”

Reclaiming an abandoned church in central Illinois • Those Abandoned Churches...

that dot the hillsides and valleys of rural America to-day —-more than ten thousand of them— are a challenge to Christian people of all Evangelical denominations. Some are only evi dences of cha’nged conditions. Many others markthe retreat of Christian forces. The vast majority of Christianpeople living in cities and towns do not understand the serious rural need of the hour. Neither do they realize that in countless instances the A.S.S.U. has met and is meeting that need. Old church bells are pealing again, calling youngandoldto thousandsof UnionSundaySchools. In a fine old brick church in a prosperous farming section of east central Illinois, an A.S.S.U. Mission ary recently organized a Sunday School. Thirty-six attended the first meeting. Three weeks later the attendance reached sixty. Now the people have pur chased an electric lighting plant, and evening serv ices are being conducted by a regular minister. In scores of other instances, work reclaimed, by our ministry has been turned back to the proper denomination. Evangelical in purpose, non-sectarian in method, andtrue to theWord of God, theA.S.S.U. isactively engaged in this national ministry of restoring wor ship to rural churches in forty States.
