OCTOBER 14 Stewards o f the Love of God

SOOTH AFRICA 6ENERAL MISSION 23 Ratbush Avenue Brooklyn, N. Y. “How can I except some man should guide me” ; said the AFRICAN to Phil ip. “How shall they hear without a preacher” ; said Paul. Thousands of na tive AFRICANS are waiting to hear of Jesus. The S.A.G.M. is pioneering in uncovered territories, and through its band of faithful workers seeking to make Christ known. Information will be furnished on request.

“ Keep back thy servant also from pre sumptuous sins; let them not have domin ion over me" (Psa. 19:13). How will He deal with secret sin in! your life? The Psalmist, who knew, pos sibly, a great deal more about secret sin' than some people, prayed, “ Cleanse thou' me from secret faults.” When he prayed that prayer he had a twofold meaning. He was praying God to cleanse him from tht* defilement of it, and also to set him free from the dominion of it, for the word cer tainly means these two things. How does- God do it? The Psalmist . . . tells us how God deals with our secret sins. H r says; God sets our secret sins in the light o f His' countenance (Psa. 90:8)., They are ire the: light of His radiant, spotless holiness. —W . H. A i . dis J. “ W e shall be tike him” (1 John 3:2). That phrase is perhaps the most breath taking in all literature. It is to be com pared only with the phrase that may be greater because it makes all else possible: “ He loved us.” In those two phrases, “He loved us,” and “We shall be like him,” we have two of the greatest wonders of the universe, and undoubtedly those two thoughts shall occupy our hearts long after eternity has begun for us. He loved us, and He shall make us like Himself. — D o n a ld G r e y B a r n h o u s e . OCTOBER 17 Two Sublime Truths

"Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and. stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man he found faithful (1 Cor. 4:1, 2). It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful; he must devote himself wholly to his life task. He must be faith ful at his work, and always at his post in the palace or house where the treasures are stored up. So the minister of the gos pel must himself be faithful,’ living each day in the love and fellowship of God. He must be faithful not only to God, but also to his fellow men, caring for the needs of the souls entrusted to him,, and ready to recommend God’s love, and to share it with others.— A n d r e w M u r r a y . “ Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with ex ceeding joy” (Jude 24). Constant victory and peace are ours as we exercise a moment-by-moment faith in. a moment-by-moment Saviour. As we look to Him, He keeps us from falling. He keeps us as the apple of His eye. In the moment of temptation the Holy Spirit re minds us of' Jesus, and instantly we claim His victory. No accounts are carried over night. There! is a daily adjustment to things divine.^-HERBERT L o c k y e r . OCTOBER 15 Daily Adjustment
