Foundation Degree in Payroll Management Best work-based project award 2018

Student: Harriotte McNamara MCIPPdip Assessor: Ray Ronnpage

The work-based project is based on real life issues faced by the student’s organisation and is probably the biggest piece of written work they have ever done, designed to challenge them. It requires a great deal of academic research, studying, time and determination to manage that task to achieve an A+.

The winner of this award’s piece of work demonstrated just that. The tutor said the project stood out in terms of content, structure and quality.

The written work provided very strong evidence of the student’s ability to present a sustained argument based on the analysis of the primary and secondary research gathered to support the conclusions and recommendations for this project.

“Winning the award came as a complete surprise and was an amazing addition to a great day. I really enjoyed studying the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management, which has broadened my knowledge and increased my confidence at work. “I am very grateful for all the support everyone has given me throughout the course. I would particularly like to thank my family for their encouragement, especially my husband for everything he’s done over the last three years and my mum for all the proofreading, my tutors for always being there to answer my questions and reassure me, and finally my colleagues and manager for all their advice and help completing my questionnaires.”

Foundation Degree in Payroll Management Student of the year award 2018

Student: Megan McCallum Tutor: Dawn Gibbons

For this award, tutors nominate a student who, in their opinion, warrant it. The student does not have to be a straight grade A student, but they might have overcome work or personal issues, in order to continue their studies.

This student started her studies in spring 2015 and worked very well through the three years of her course. She was always focused and achieved really good results despite juggling significant caring responsibilities and dealing with family bereavement.

Her tutor said: “During a difficult time she still attended her tutorials and was a great help to her fellow students providing ideas for their assignment topics and always contributing fully.”

“It was a great honour to win the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management student of the year 2018 award. I am extremely proud of myself and my classmates for graduating. We really supported each other throughout the process, I cannot thank them or my tutor Dawn enough.

“I would also like to thank my partner for proofreading all my assignments, and for encouraging me when I didn’t think I would make it.

“ I have no doubt that this experience will forever benefit me in my career and its progression.

“Congratulations Class of 2018!”
