ADULT INTRODUCTION TO PICKLEBALL Learn to play Pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports in the Country! The rules are simple and it’s an easy game to learn all the basics! Pickleball combines the elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, yet is played on a modified court. Class will be instructed by Kurt Ballack, certified Pickleball instructor through PPR training and USAPA. Participants will be instructed on the basic rules of the game, fundamentals, internal components within the game and how proper footwork improves your ability to make returns consistently. Balance techniques and tools to improve your agility on the court will also be covered, along with dinking mechanics, stance, positioning, and decision making! Participants will also learn proper grip, serving, service receive, and game play! At the conclusion of the class, players will know how to go a bit beyond the basics to help kick start their capabilities to be competitive from the first serve! Proper court shoes are required, and participants should provide their own paddle! Are you popping the ball up and struggle to win a point often? Do you miss on your backhand returns or often miss an easy dink? If you answered yes to any of those questions, this class is for you! Class is instructed by Kurt Ballack, certified Pickleball instructor through PPR training and USAPA. You will learn all internal components of the game, proper footwork to improve your ability to make returns consistently, and balance techniques and tools to improve your agility on the court. Fundamentals for dinking mechanics to improve your consistency will be taught, along with 3rd shot drops, resets, backhand returns, and backhand dinking. Participants will learn serving and receiving strategies and proper court positioning, the “X” pattern, shifting and shading, transitioning, and how and why it is applied on the court during match play. Tactical decision making will also be covered. Proper court shoes are required, and participants should provide their own paddle! ROMEOVILLE GOLF CLINIC The Romeoville Recreation Department is excited to announce that we have partnered with Clayton and his team at CLP Golf for our first ever golf program. At their facility, CLP Golf features three Foresight simulator bays, three practice stations, one SAM PuttLab platform and a practice putting green. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the game including full swing, chipping, and putting in an engaging, high tech simulator environment. The team at CLP Golf is thrilled to offer this fun, engaging and new experience for young golfers! Since 2019, Clayton was named by my peers as one of Golf Digest’s Best Teachers in Illinois. In addition, Since 2022, he was voted onto Golf Digest's Best Young Teachers. In 2024 Clayton was named a U.S. Kids Top 50 Coach.
It is encourage to bring your own clubs, but clubs will be provided if needed.
