DECEMBER 2025
FAMILY, FUN, AND FESTIVE LIGHTS THE HILB HOLIDAY SEASON
In the Hilb household, Christmas isn’t just one day on the calendar; it’s an entire season of fun and togetherness, and we like to get a head start. I love this time of year and all the wonderful traditions my family and I look forward to when winter comes around. From taking the kids to see Santa at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum to riding on the Polar Express in French Lick, our community goes all out with events. Back at home, we also like to go big with decorations, lights, and inflatables, sometimes overlapping with our Thanksgiving display, just because it’s fun. For me, the best part of the season isn’t the gifts or incredible events; it’s that we all get to take time off to spend with our loved ones. That chance to pause and enjoy each other makes the holidays so special. Our December would not be complete without a trip to the children’s museum for their annual Breakfast with Santa event. My parents usually join us, and the grown-ups might have more fun than my kids, just watching them share their heartfelt holiday wishes with the man of the hour. Over at the French Lick Scenic Railway, they transform the station into the Polar Express, complete with train rides and your own magical golden ticket, just like in the movie. We’re the house in the neighborhood that always starts decorating early and likes to wow with our displays. Our yard is decked out in holiday decorations from Halloween through the rest of the year, rarely without an inflatable or sign of the
season. Sometimes, we even do a Thanksgiving/ Christmas crossover display. Because why not? It’s a whole process, so we might be putting up Christmas lights in November, so by the time Dec. 1 hits, we’re ready to go. All of that, the joy of Christmas morning, and the delicious food make this time memorable, but the real spirit of the holiday is that quality family time. From Halloween to the beginning of the new year, it’s one holiday after another. I love how time off for Christmas is integrated into our culture, making it easier for everyone to coordinate gatherings and actually get time away. It enables us to do this every year, so it’s not left to chance or PTO availability. We get into the spirit way before Christmas, with events leading up to the holiday like a seasonal drum roll. It’s like a nice reset for everyone before the new year brings new goals and a return to a busy schedule. Whether your favorite way to celebrate is by hanging lights, watching a holiday movie marathon, or enjoying a great local event, the laughter, shared traditions, and little moments make the holiday so special. It’s a reminder of how lucky we are to have each other. Christmas in our house is a feeling that lasts way after the lights and decorations go down. From all of us at Anthony’s Lawn Care, we wish you a happy holiday, filled with fun and family.

THE WORLD’S MOST REMARKABLE ANIMAL MIGRATIONS FROM SKY TO SAVANNAH
The holidays are here, so it’s time to turn your yard into a winter wonderland without breaking the bank or spending hours stringing Christmas lights. If you want your home display to dazzle, you can opt for simple festive ideas that look impressive but are easy to set up. From repurposing everyday items like jars into cute luminaries to illuminating your pathways, your lawn can sparkle with holiday cheer while you still have plenty of time for caroling. Make Every Corner of Your Yard Merry Holly Jolly Hacks Wreaths That Wow Wreaths are a staple of holiday decorations for a reason. These festive and earthy garlands just feel like Christmas, and you can use them as more than just elegant touches to your doorway. You can use wreaths throughout your yard to greet guests and wrap your lawn with a seasonal bow. Add them to windows, hang them on fences, and use them as the center display to cozy outdoor seating areas. You can easily make your own or recycle last year’s winter wreaths. Glow-Up Your Yard If you want your space to sparkle, there are unique ways to give your yard a holiday glow-up that’s easy and eye-catching. You can create luminaries or little lanterns with mason jars and LED candles to light up the entryway or along a path up to your home. If you have a little sled or wagon, you can fill that with LED candles and garland to create a seasonal display. You can even make a comfy firepit area if space allows. When it comes to your Christmas lights, start by inventorying the lights you already have to see what works and what you may need to replace. Seasonal Safety Whatever decorations you try in your yard, always think about safety first. Only use lights and cords explicitly made for the outdoors, and don’t overload your outlets. If you need the ladder to handle anything, have someone spot you. Don’t hang heavy items or decorations from your gutters, as the extra weight can cause your gutter to bend. One of the best holiday decorating hacks is to contact Anthony’s Lawn Care. We offer a Christmas light service so you can enjoy the season in style without all the hassle. Contact us today, and happy holidays!
Across the globe, animals of all shapes and sizes embark on extraordinary journeys that defy the imagination.
Whether by flying, swimming, or running, these migrations are nature’s way of balancing survival with the ever-changing world. Some of these trips cover thousands of miles, while others involve climbing mountains or crossing rivers, but each demonstrates resilience, instinct, and the interconnectedness of life on Earth. A Record-Breaking Traveler One of the most remarkable travelers is the Arctic tern, a small seabird from the icy North Pole that flies to the far reaches of Antarctica and back, logging up to 25,000 miles! That’s the longest migration of any animal on the planet. For a bird weighing less than a smartphone, it’s an incredible feat. Journey Across Generations The monarch butterfly tells a different kind of migration story: one of teamwork across generations. Starting in Canada and the northern U.S., monarchs head south toward central Mexico. Along the way, they breed and die, passing the torch to their offspring. By the time the journey is complete, 4–5 generations have passed over the span of the trip. The Great Wildebeest Migration On the savannahs of East Africa, over a million wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, follow the rains in what’s known as the Great Migration. Their route forms a massive loop across the Serengeti and Maasai Mara, filled with dangers, from predators like lions to perilous river crossings guarded by crocodiles. Despite the risks, this spectacle continues each year. Altitudinal Migration While some species traverse continents, others take shorter but equally vital journeys. Many animals, like Red Pandas, spotted owls, and snow leopards, practice altitudinal migration and climb to higher elevations in summer when food is abundant. Then they descend in winter for shelter and warmth. Though smaller in scale, these seasonal shifts are just as critical for survival. Migration is a survival strategy shaped by millions of years of evolution. Nature’s great migrations are living reminders of resilience and interconnectedness. Every journey, whether by bird, butterfly, or wildebeest, shows how far life will go to endure.

Festive Fun Made Easy TRADITIONS THAT WON’T COST A FORTUNE
The holidays have a way of sneaking up on us. Suddenly, the calendar is full, stores are packed, and wallets feel too light. But here’s the truth: The most memorable moments don’t come from expensive gifts or elaborate trips. We spark them from laughter, creativity, and time spent together. Whether you’re looking for cozy nights in or adventures out in the crisp winter air, here are fun, low-cost holiday activities for the whole family. Festive Fun at Home Let’s turn home into holiday central! You can wrap your front door like a giant present, or craft homemade ornaments from everyday supplies. Popcorn and cranberry garlands, paper chains with gratitude notes, and handmade snowflakes instantly transform your space into a festive wonderland. For extra coziness, plan a movie night complete
with blankets, popcorn, and your family’s favorite holiday classics. Creative Crafts and Tasty Treats You don’t need to buy pricey kits when you can create your own fun. Build a gingerbread house from scratch, or whip up batches of cookies and let everyone go wild with frosting and sprinkles. If you’re looking for something outdoorsy, make birdseed ornaments from pinecones and peanut butter, then watch the backyard come alive with feathered guests. Outdoor Adventures Bundle up and take a nighttime drive (or stroll) to admire the best light displays in your town. It’s a free way to soak up the magic of the season together.
fight. And when it’s too chilly to stay outside, warm up with hot cocoa by the fire. Share the Holiday Spirit The season feels even brighter when you spread joy beyond your own home. Go caroling in your neighborhood or at a local nursing home, attend a school holiday concert, or deliver handmade cards to friends and neighbors. These simple gestures leave lasting impressions and remind everyone what the holidays are truly about. Cozy Traditions That Last For a touch of nostalgia, start a new tradition like sleeping under the Christmas tree one night, creating a DIY advent calendar, or hosting a family game night with holiday music playing in the background. These small rituals are the ones kids and adults both look forward to each year.
If you’re lucky enough to get snow, the options are endless: snowmen, forts, snow angels, or even a friendly snowball
