President ’ s Message
Greetings, What a blessing it is to have you join us for this momentous celebration of the achievements and perseverance of the Class of 2025 – my third graduating class as President and CEO. This commencement is a particularly significant one, as we are halfway through our yearlong observance of our sesquicentennial, which marks the 150th anniversary of the university’s found- ing. We will also pay tribute to the Silver Class of 2000 and the Golden Class of 1975, who remind us of the legacy upon which we continue to build. Graduates, you are the embodiment of our founders’ vision and a powerful reminder that their spirit of determination, commitment and excellence continues to thrive. By earning your degrees, you honor the efforts of those who laid the groundwork for this insti - tution in 1875. You are the continuation of their dreams – tightly woven threads in the tapestry of HT’s storied history. As you step into the world as proud Huston-Tillotson University alumni, remember that you are part of a powerful legacy, a lineage of Rams who have carried the HT name forward and impacted communities far and wide. Now, it’s your turn to write the next chapter, carrying forth the values and principles that have defined Huston-Tillotson University for one and a half centuries. Also, I want to recognize the families, friends, mentors, faculty, and staff who have stood beside you and provided encouragement, support, and guidance. They were instrumental in your success and are an integral part of this celebration. Thank you to all the villages that made this moment possible for our graduates. Congratulations, Class of 2025! You are the heartbeat of our sesquicentennial celebration; and we look forward to seeing you carry the HT legacy forward.
