Citizens on Patrol Program Overview Introduction: The Citizens on Patrol (COP) program is an essential initiative created to encourage active participation between community members and the Police Department in maintaining safety and security. It fosters a spirit of collaboration, where trained citizens support law enforcement by patrolling designated areas, acting as extra "eyes and ears" to identify and report suspicious activities, while ensuring that neighborhoods remain safe for all residents. Purpose: The purpose of the Citizens on Patrol program is to assist law enforcement agencies in deterring crime and increasing community awareness. The program helps build a stronger, safer community through enhanced communication and cooperation between the Police Department and local residents. Volunteers are trained to be an additional set of eyes, identifying potential risks, preventing crimes, and providing a visible, non - confrontational presence in the community.
