Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Autonomous Practice - FAILED (AARP Supported) House Bill 883, by Representative Shoaf (companion Senate Bill 758, by Senator Simon, never had a hearing). The legislation would have amended sections in 395 & 464, Florida Statutes. The legislation would have allowed psychiatric nurses registered for autonomous practice to provide mental health services independently, without requiring a physician’s supervisory protocol. Their scope of practice would have been defined by the Board of Nursing, enabling them to diagnose, treat and manage psychiatric conditions autonomously.
