AIS Small Works Showcase Catalog 2022

American Impressionist Society , also known as AIS, was founded in 1998 by four Florida artists in honor of their mentor, William Schultz. Thanks to the vision of Charlotte M. Dickinson, Marjorie I. Bradley, Pauline S. Ney and of course, William Schultz, AIS is proud to serve our member artists with exhibit opportunities, workshops, events, and retreats. AIS has grown to be one of the most respected national art organizations in the country, with over 2,000 active members nationwide. AIS partners with galleries and arts organizations to present our National and Small Works Showcase each year in dynamic communities across the United States. In 2020 we launched our first Online Exhibition and in 2021 an Online Exhibition for our Associate Members. Annually, AIS now offers four juried exhibition opportunities. Congratulations to the 152 artists whose work was juried into our 6 th Annual AIS Impressions: Small Works Showcase. We received 1,304 entries for considerations by the jurors. Artists with AIS designation after their name have achieved Signature Membership. We also have artwork submitted by some of our Master members (designation of AISM), Officers and Board Members. The artwork is on display in Taos, New Mexico at Wilder Nightingale Fine Art. The 2022 exhibition opens on May 12 and closes on June 19. James Richards AISM is the Awards Judge and Workshop Instructor for this Small Works Showcase. To purchase artwork in the exhibition contact: Wilder Nightingale Fine Art Taos, New Mexico 575-758-3255 info@wnightingale.com AIS Jury Process: Submitted work was reviewed by a panel of highly qualified, nationally recognized master and/or signature level artists, using a “blind jury” process where the juror does not know the identity of the artist whose work he/she is viewing. The jurors do not know the identity of the other jurors. Each juror assigns a score from one (low) to seven (high) to each painting entered, based on technical mastery (composition, design, value, drawing, edges, etc.) and whether the piece is impressionistic. The points are then tabulated revealing the highest scoring paintings. The American Impressionist Society believes this method of selection is the most fair and unbiased jurying method currently available.
