THE HEART BEHIND THE ROLE BECAUSE EVERY MOTHER’S STORY DESERVES TO BE HEARD — AND FELT.

M otherhood, to me, is the embodiment of unconditional love, a constant presence through both the joyful and challenging moments. It means being a source of strength during sleepless nights, offering comfort in times of uncertainty, and celebrating every small victory with pride. Even in the most difficult times, motherhood calls for patience, resilience, and a kind of love that never fades. It’s about showing up, no matter what, and giving the best of yourself even when it’s hard. Through every high and low, motherhood remains one of the most profound and rewarding parts of my life.

B eing a nurse for the past 30 years has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Most of my career has been in long-term care, walking with seniors through vulnerable times. It has been an honour to care for and advocate for them every day. Nursing is not just a job—it is a calling, and I am so grateful to have lived it. This work has shaped me deeply, especially as a mother. Becoming a mom to Elizabeth, Grace, and Daniel has been my greatest joy. They are my heart, and I am so proud of the kind, resilient people they have become. (And yes—having a nurse for a mom meant no faking sick days!) Both nursing and motherhood have filled my life with purpose, love, and meaning. I truly could not ask for more.

In celebration of Mother’s Day on May 12, The Heart Behind the Role is a tribute to the quiet strength, endless care, and deep love that define motherhood. It honours the moments—big and small—that shape a mother’s journey, from selfless acts of care to the unwavering support they give each day. We are grateful to the mothers in our community who continue to lead with heart, reminding us of the powerful impact of love, resilience, and presence.
