Glass materials used in laboratories carry a potential risk of breakage due to their delicate structure. Even small impacts may cause glass to shatter, crack, and lead to serious safety issues. Especially glass materials containing hazardous chemicals may scatter fragments around when broken. This situation may pose life-threatening risks to personnel. To eliminate these risks, ISOLAB GmbH has developed a flexible and high-strength surface coating polymer that completely covers the outer surface of glass materials, providing safety. The coating adapts to the glass surface, maintains its flexibility, and provides superior resistance to breakage and impacts. The coating offers high transparency, allowing easy observation of the measurement level. It withstands up to 30 minutes at 135°C, washing at 95°C, and autoclaving at 121°C. In case of surface coating damage, glass fragments are prevented from scattering around. It significantly prevents the liquid inside the container from spreading to the external environment, thereby reducing the risk of contact with personnel. Thus, serious injuries that may result from breakage of glassware and other delicate glass surfaces are prevented. This technology not only protects human health but also prevents damage to laboratory equipment and work environment. Surface-coated volumetric flasks must not be exposed directly to flame.
