Championing responsible business Our business has always had a purpose beyond profit, working together with others for the benefit of our communities. Underpinning this is our commitment to championing a responsible and different way of doing business, one that has a positive impact on society, the local economy and the environment and plays its part in creating a fairer society and sustainable future.
We are proud to be supporting initiatives to make our funerals and our business more environmentally sustainable. In fact, 100% of the energy from our funeral homes comes from renewable sources. Our environment
Southern Co-op is committed to playing its part in tacking the climate and ecological challenges we now face, so we are urgently cutting greenhouse gas emissions and making space for wildlife and nature recovery. A new fully electric hearse is now part of our End of Life Services vehicle fleet alongside other hybrid vehicles. Many of our funeral homes have smart meters to help improve energy efficiency
and we have rolled out LED lighting to all our funeral homes. We have invested in solar panels at a number of sites and have introduced a new approach for recycling in our funeral homes. We are also encouraging colleagues to identify energy saving opportunities and take action to save energy.
