A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10
I hope you all had a wonderful break. It has been great to see the students back in school rested and ready to go. Over the holidays Kierpa in 10SDR represented team UK in Malta for the Karate World Championships. Kierpa managed to win one Gold and two bronze medals. We are so proud of her wonderful achievements and hope you can all share in this success. Well done to Jodie in 10SDR who was selected to represent Twickenham Juniors at the Junior Scullers Head before the Easter break. We are pleased to hear that her crew did really well, finishing faster than more than half the other entrants in their category. In the final week before the holidays, Mr Bannister, our Head of Sixth Form, delivered an assembly to Year 10 students introducing them to the post-16 options process. That theme has continued into the start of this term, with students having another assembly from Richard Fisher, who joined us from Kingston College on Tuesday to talk about vocational pathways. It was also a pleasure to welcome so many parents / carers to our Post-16 Options Evening on Thursday, where Sharon Young, also from Kingston College, and Mr Bannister talked through the various options available to students once they have completed their GCSEs. We have also started inviting Year 10 students for individual appointments with a careers adviser, which will continue throughout the rest of this term and the first part of Year 11. There will be further events over the coming weeks and months as we support students in making well-informed decisions about the next phase of their education and we look forward to working closely with parents / carers as part of this process. We look forward to having the opportunity to talk to both students and parents at parents evening on 1 May about the great progress the students are making this year.
