AHSAA Football Playoffs ROUND ONE RESULTS

season. He also rushed 75 times for 644 times and seven touchdowns. Both Fyffe and Pisgah won their Class 2A opening round game. Fyffe rolled past Red Bay 55-8 and Pisgah rallied for a 40-20 win over Hatton. In class 3A Geraldine defeated Winfield 24-8 and Sylvania whipped Fayette County 35-6. In Class 4A Etowah earned a 42-21 victory over Northside and Cherokee County defeated Corner 47-10. Three of five local teams in Class 5A advanced to round two. Arab defeated East Limestone 54-14, Scottsboro took down Brewer 45-14 and Guntersville slipped past rival Fairview 24-13. The Boaz Pirates finished the 2022 season with a 4-7 overall record after falling to Russellville 63-10 in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs. Boaz earned the spot after winning three straight games to close out the regular season. The Pirates sailed past Sardis, Douglas and Lee-Huntsville. They also defeated Crossville earlier in the season. Southside also finished up the 2022 season, as Ramsey rolled to a 61-25 opening round victory over the Panthers. Southside started the season at 5-1, but the Panthers dropped their final four games of the regular season and the Class 5A state playoff game to finish the year at 5-6 overall. In class 6A Gadsden City advanced to round two with a 41-24 victory over Cullman. Fort Payne closed out the year at 8-3 overall following at 31-8 loss to Decatur.

Several football teams around Northeast Alabama advanced to the 2022 AHSAA State Playoffs. Some of the programs advanced on to round two with wins, while many teams closed out the season with a loss in the first round. In Class 1A, Cedar Bluff fell to Meek 46-6. Valley Head, Spring Garden and Coosa Christian all advanced to round two. Valley Head defeated Phillips Bear Creek 61- 20, Spring Garden downed South Larmer 35-7, and Coosa Christian rolled past Hackleburg 51-8. Three area football programs from Class 2A closed their season in the opening round. North Sand Mountain fell to Lexington 49-14, West End lost to Aliceville 62-13, and Collinsville was defeated by Falkville 42-7. “We have had such a good year. Nobody expected us to be able to go 8-2,” said Collinsville Head Coach Earnie Willingham about the 2022 season. “This team got so much better during the year. Our young players grew and grew. And our older players gave them such a good example to follow.” Collinsville Senior Keaton Deboard finished the season with 158 rushes for 1,281 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also had 16 catches for 426 yards and six touchdowns, and he gained 296 yards on special teams to finish with 2,003 all purpose yards. ROUND TWO RESULTS By Brandon K. Pierce | The Sports Ledger Several Northeast Alabama football program's saw their season come to a close in the second round of the AHSAA State Playoffs. With a win in the opening round in Class 1A, Valley Head picked up the program's 10th win of the season. However, the Tigers could not extend the winning record any further as Valley Head fell to Marion County 27-6 in the second round of state playoffs. Spring Garden's season also came to a close with a 31-28 loss to Coosa Christian. The Fyffe Red Devils moved to 12-0 with a 35-6 Class 2A victory over Winston County in the second round. The Pisgah Eagles won their 10th game of the season, moving to 10-2 overall with a 48-28 round two victory over Southeastern. Class 3A still has three local teams competing. Geraldine advanced with a 17-14 upset over Mars Hill, and the Sylvania Rams rallied to defeat Madison Academy 48-45. Geraldine and Sylvania are set to face each other in round three, in what will be a DeKalb County quarterfinal showdown with the winner advancing to the state semifinals. Also in Class 3A, Piedmont moved to 10-2 with a 42-20 victory over Colbert County. In Class 4A, the Etowah Blue Devils fell to undefeated Deshler 36-33. Cherokee County advanced to round three of the playoffs with a 42-28 win over West Morgan. Two Northeast Alabama teams in Class 5A fell in the second round. Guntersville closed the year with a 9-3 record following a 45-9 loss to Ramsey. Scottsboro fell to 7-5 overall with a 34-10 loss to Leeds. Arab is Marshall County's only remaining team in the state playoffs. The Knights moved to 11-1 and advanced to the state quarterfinals with a 42-20 victory over Moody. In Class 6A, the Gadsden City Titans fell to Mountain Brook, 37-6. Gadsden finished the year with a 7-5 record.

The Wildcats scored on a early defensive touchdown to go up 7-0. However, that was the only time that Guntersville would reach the end zone in the game, as Ramsey rallied for a 45-9 victory.
