Baptist. They had repented of their sins, but that was all that they knew to do. Their hearts were all ready to believe then when Paul told them to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul spoke boldly in the synagogue for three months. But the unbelieving Jews be gan to stir up trouble, and Paul went with his followers to the schoolhouse of a teacher named Tyrannus. W e don’t know whether this man was a believer or not. But we read that the word of the Lord Jesus was heard throughout all Asia from this place. You may be sure, then, that Satan would try in every possible way to stop the spread of this word. And he did. He stirred up the silversmiths, those workmen who made and sold little images of Diana, the heathen goddess whom the people of Ephesus wor shiped. But God brought the uproar to naught, however; and, although Paul had to leave, the church at Ephesus grew and was a power in that part of the country. Objects: A globe map of the world, a quart fruit jar, two pint jars, a red cross, clear gasoline, water, gasoline blackened with lampblack ground in oil, black ink, red ink, and bulletin red ground in oil. (Paste the outline of a paper heart on the quart jar near the center and on one of the pint jars. Put enough water in the quart jar to come a little above the top of the heart. Object Lesson L ad and D ad

Enough gasoline should be put in one pint jar to come above the heart. Fill the sec ond pint jar half with water colored with red ink and half with gasoline colored with bulletin red. Place the globe at one end of the table and the cross at the other.) Lesson: These two jars remind me of a father and son. W e will drop a drop of this black fluid into the large jar to see what happens. (Use only one drop of the ink.) The heart is blackened. The human heart looks this way in the sight of God when sin has entered. The heart on the lit tle jar, the “son,” is blackened by the fluid from this pretty bottle. (Lightly discolor with the black gasoline.) Near the red cross you will see a jar with red fluid in it, reminding us of the blood of Christ which cleanses from sin. Jess Jar cames to the cross and is cleansed. (Pour some of the red gasoline, which will be at the top of the jar, into the jar which contains clear gasoline representing the boy. The two gasolines will mix, leaving the heart red.) jess receives Christ, and as God then looks at his heart He sees Christ instead of sin. Mr. Jar is over close to the globe of the world. W e will use this globe to represent the evil things of this life as compared with eternal life in Jesus Christ. Jess goes over to him and tries to get him to receive Christ (Pour some of the red gasoline into the jar. The water will not receive the red gasoline.) Mr. Jar refuses to take Christ. Jess notices that his father is too close to the world, and he asks him to repent and come near the cross. This he does and re ceives Christ into his heart. (Pour all the remaining red into the jar. The red water at the bottom will mix with the water in the quart jar.) Now we understand better what Paul meant when he spoke of "repentance to ward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21). 10 But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us. Ephesians 5:15 See then that ye walk cir cumspectly. not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17' Wherefore be ye not unwise, but under standing what the will of the Lord is. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit: 19 Speaking to yourselves m psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 6 :1 ' Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your chil dren to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Golden Text: “Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee” (Lev. 10:9). Devotional Reading: Col. 3:5-17.

Jeremiah 35:5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups; and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. 6 But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father com manded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever: 7 Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days m the land where ye be strangers. 8 Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters; 9 Nor to build houses for us to dwell in; neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed: BLACKBOARD LESSON
