The essential first step in instrument reprocessing, is the cleaning step. Cleaning uses specialized solutions, such as enzymatic detergents, to aid in the removal of organic and inorganic soils from instruments. The cleaning efficacy of an automated washer- disinfectors and/or an ultrasonic bath can be easily checked with the use of specialized monitors.

Enzymatic Solutions Enzymatic cleaners are used to aid in the cleaning and decontamination of instrumentation and contain enzymes, which help to break down soils, including blood, protein and other proteinaceous debris. These solutions can be used for both manual and automated cleaning processes.
