The University Estate and the Masterplan

The University of Portsmouth's strategic ambition commits us to investing significantly in our staff, facilities and estate. We have developed our Estate Masterplan to promote student experience, facilitate collaborative learning and grow our research and innovation activities. The resources we will commit to achieving this plan will strengthen the brand and reputation of our University by providing an estate which both ourselves and our city can be proud of and which meets our current and future needs. Over the next ten to 15 years the University campus, in the south west of the City of Portsmouth, will be transformed. The Estate Masterplan capitalises on our city centre location. It is our intention to use our strong relationships within the community to ensure our developments benefit the whole of our city and region. The University’s environment and sustainability strategies, alongside our related academic expertise, will underpin the transformation of the estate, ensuring our buildings are built to the highest standards. This masterplan provides an important opportunity for us to reduce the University’s consumption of energy and improve our waste management. Our estate investments include specific consideration of public realm which will encourage us to work actively with city officials and the wider community. It is our aim as part of our masterplan, and in partnership with the city, to consider the development of robust travel plans, with safe routes for pedestrians and efficient journeys for traffic. Now is the right time to invest considerable amounts of money, time and resources to ensure that our University facilities match our ambitions. Our plans are bold but we are determined to offer our students and staff the very best University experience through facilities which underpin our role as an internationally excellent University. As part of this investment we plan to grow our Estates & Campus Services Team and are seeking individuals with the relevant expertise to contribute to the delivery of the masterplan, which will see investment in excess of £400M in the medium term.
