ABOUT THE WOMEN OF INFLUENCE AWARDS

The annual Women of Influence Awards, presented by Avanade, recognize all finalists and honors the recipient in each category for their accomplishments and leadership roles in the fields of Information Security, Risk Management and Privacy. Selected by their peers through submitted nominations, all nominees have made important contributions to the community at large. Each year finalists are announced from each category and one award is presented in each of the categories at the awards ceremony. The Women of Influence Awards recognize women in five categories:

• Executive of the Year • Corporate Practitioner • One to Watch • Private Solutions Provider • Public Sector/Academia

Judges select the finalists based upon a six-point set of criteria: • A positive influence on the professional community • The application of creativity or innovation in solving problems or overcoming challenges • A demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards • A history of designing and implementing effective solutions • Sustained record of accomplishments and contributions to the field • Service as a trusted mentor and advisor to colleagues, students and others

Congratulations to everyone nominated this year! It was a competitive year and the judging committee had some tough decisions to make. It’s quite an accomplishment to be selected as one of the finalists, given the number and caliber of truly accomplished women nominated for these awards.

ABOUT THE CORPORATE AWARD

Each year we recognize one corporation for their efforts in engaging, developing and promoting women in their organization. The EWF Corporate Award recognizes companies that champion women and demonstrate gender diversity with internal initiatives created to support women through the lifecycle of their career. Initiatives might include Employee Resource Groups, STEM initiatives to bring more women from school to the company, mentorship programs, internal development offerings, sponsorship, number of women promoted to first level leadership and the number of women advancing overall at that organization and within Info Sec, Privacy and Risk, unconscious bias training, requiring diverse slates of candidates and work flexibility options. Additionally, the EWF Corporate Award looks at the number of women in key positions and overall company performance.

ABOUT THE ALLYSHIP AWARD

The EWF Allyship Award originated in 2021 in an effort to recognize the importance of allyship, and to make sure that we, as a women’s organization, acknowledge and applaud executives supporting the women within their organizations. Originally called the EWF Male Catalyst Award, we realize the importance of diversity and inclusivity when honoring those who strive to help women reach their highest potential. The EWF understands that allyship is critical when it comes to women succeeding in our heavily male-dominated field, and believes that those who ally themselves with the rising women in their organizations deserve recognition. The EWF Allyship Award is our way of celebrating those who help the women in their companies succeed.

Nikol Michailos IBM CISO Cyber Defense Development and Analytics Engineering Manager LinkedIn My career began in the nonprofit sector, supporting post–Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts. opportunities for students, manage curriculum, and lead operations that balanced academic goals with state accountability. Those years shaped my leadership philosophy and instilled in me a deep commitment to people development and equity. Seeking to bridge practice with research, I pursued advanced study in data science, education, and leadership. Academia gave me space to connect human factors with technology and organizational change, sharpening both my analytical skills and my ability to translate complex ideas into strategies that drive outcomes. Today, I bring these experiences into the corporate world as a cybersecurity leader. At IBM’s Office of the CISO, I manage a team of developers and data engineers building security data platforms and AI-driven solutions that strengthen enterprise defense. My work spans threat detection, program management, and collaboration across technical and policy domains. From post-Katrina community service to classrooms to corporate cyber defense, my career reflects a consistent thread: solving complex problems by centering people.
