Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park Recreation Center It’s been a lively week at the Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park Recreation Center! 7 talented participants got to create and take home their own handcrafted Halloween Luminaries. The gym was a hub of activity, with 132 pickleball players and clinic attendees, 10 dedicated walking fitness participants, and 12 basketball enthusiasts hitting the courts. Our self-paced programs continue to draw interest—107 guests used the fitness room and 10 gathered for games of Mahjong. We've also welcomed a couple more instructors to lead some classes such as Breakthrough Mobility with 2 attendees, and Latin Dance Workout with 9. Our first Senior Games events of the month took place this week with 17 participants so far!
JM Berlin Rotary Skate Park Last week at the J.M.B Rotary Skatepark we had 68 skateboarders and 38 BMXers visit the park.

South County Regional Park Recreation Center
South County Regional Park Recreation Center had an active week with 146 engaging in Pickleball and 46 playing Basketball. The Fitness Center has been popular with 32 taking advantage of the facility while 10 joined Heather for Pilates. The Cookies and Cupcake program was a huge success with 31 in attendance. Kids and their parents got to choose from an assortment of frostings and decor and made sweet creations of their own! RC planes are staying steady with 6 flying their planes in the gym while out Line Dancing rental had a fun group of 15. Homeschool PE was a smash hit with 14 children in attendance. This week Musa taught basketball skills! The Gardening season has officially begun and almost all of the Community Garden beds have started to see seedings go in.
The Recreation Center was buzzing with activity this week! Stride & Stretch hit a new milestone with 70 enthusiastic participants, all stepping, stretching, and smiling their way to better balance and mobility. Over on the courts, Pickleball kept things lively with 91 players enjoying fun rallies and friendly competition. And to top it off, Boogie Chair brought the groove with 18 participants, proving that fitness and fun make the perfect pair.
South County Regional Park Pool
South County Regional Park Pool had 416 Patrons enjoys the water this week. 89 came out for the water aerobics program. The Blue Fins and Charlotte High have been a regular sight in the lap lanes working on their strokes and endurance.

Centennial Park Pool The pool was alive with motion and momentum as swimmers of all kinds dove into the action! A powerful 93 lap swimmers carved through the water with steady determination, while 170 recreational swimmers brought laughter, energy, and a splash of spontaneity to every corner of the pool. Not to be outdone, 111 water aerobics participants turned the water into a dance floor, moving in sync with purpose and positivity. From focused strokes to joyful jumps, the pool became a vibrant blend of fitness, fun, and community spirit. We were thrilled to welcome 125 high school swimmers to the pool this week and 120 sea dragon swimmers, each one bringing energy, dedication, and team spirit to every practice and meet. A special highlight was our heartfelt Senior Night swim meet, where we celebrated 5 incredible seniors who’ve made lasting waves both in and out of the water. It was an evening full of cheers, memories, and well-earned recognition—a perfect way to honor their hard work and the bright paths ahead. Here's to every stroke, every smile, and every moment that made this season so special!
Harold Avenue Regional Park Recreation Center This last week Harold Avenue Regional Park’s drop-in programs saw 89 for Pickleball, 84 for Basketball, 19 for Table Tennis and 7 for Volleyball. Silver Sneakers had 28, Zumba had 15 and Pilates had 5, these patrons are making sure to stay active each week. We saw 9 for Bonsai and 10 staying active outdoors with Walking Fitness.

Englewood Charlotte Public Library Englewood has been busy, busy, busy! Ms. Holly visited the kiddos at Vineland Elementary for some Fall fun and Charles attended the Charlotte County Job Fair and Career Expo; along with some friends from other branches. Memory Cafe had their Halloween event and the quilters have kicked it into overdrive with their project creations. We love seeing our different groups of patrons in their elements!
The first, spooky Cricut Joy for the Holidays kicked off on October 2, 2025. Patrons were able to make a boo-tastic sign that glows in the dark, learning all about the Cricut and its design space. On Friday, our kids in Kids' Craft learned about Vincent Van Gogh, painted their own Starry Night, and added dimensions by fork painting texture. Punta Gorda Charlotte Library

Port Charlotte Public Library
This week at Port Charlotte, our Preschool Preppers explored the days of the week with Cookie the Cat, and our toddlers practiced their sign language with pumpkin faces. Spooky season is finally here, and we couldn’t wait to decorate! Families are enjoying a spider scavenger hunt challenge and voting to name our giant spider who guards the elevator. We also finished the Earn Your Wings reading challenge with eighteen certificates earned! Saturday’s What’s Cooking program had over 80 people in attendance and the group discussed legacy recipes. This topic was chosen after a staff person learned about a gravestone that had a recipe engraved on it—which recipe are you most well known for? Patrons enjoyed chocolate mayonnaise cake, cheesy potato casserole, blueberry dump cake, and more. About 20 individuals gathered at the Port Charlotte Library last week to attend Christopher Jimenez’s captivating talk on banned books.
