2024 AGC CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD Slade Opheikens, President/CEO – R&O Construction

As I finish my term as Chairman of the Board for the AGC of Utah, I reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared over the past year. The experience that the AGC of Utah has offered me is a powerful reminder that together, we have the tools, talent, and tenacity to overcome challenges and seize opportunities.

During 2024, we have seen significant strides taken by the association— growth in membership, improved retention, expanded engagement, and key relationships strengthened across the industry. We have also taken crucial steps to address the mental health challenges facing our workforce by ensuring that mental well-being remains a core focus of the association as we move into the future. If you have not already viewed the new mental health resources and free mental health webinars, please log into agc-utah.org and share these as a resource with your employees. These achievements reflect the dedication and collaboration that define the AGC of Utah, and I am excited for the continued growth and success that lies ahead. I am truly grateful and will always remember the honor of representing the AGC of Utah this year and want to express my appreciation to each member for their support of myself, fellow officers, the Board, committees, and the wonderful AGC of Utah staff. Each one of them has been nothing short of inspiring, and I am thankful for their valuable insights and perspectives. As I step down as Chairman, I look forward to supporting Brett Nielsen, President of Whitaker Construction, in his leadership as the 2025 Chairman. I also wish the new officers and directors all the best in 2025 and encourage them to seek to gain the most out of their experiences at the AGC. Together, we continue to strengthen the association, and in doing so, build a brighter future for the construction industry. I would be amiss if I did not recognize the efforts of the AGC staff who truly are the ones doing the work behind the scenes. Thank you to each of them for putting our words into action and finding new ways to share AGC’s accomplishments and resources with its members. I again want to thank each and every member for your support and your commitment to both our industry and to the AGC of Utah. We look forward to seeing you at our 103 rd Annual Convention!
