Legends of the Fall Red Angus Female Sale [11/15/25]

• Kurt and Jane Rich • Jane and I were married in 1983, and 1983 was also the year that our family purchased our first Red Angus cows. As our children grew so did our cattle herd. We found that Red Angus cattle had great dispositions and made for really functional cows. In 2020 after years of building and maintaining our cattle herd, Jane and I made the tough decision to disperse our herd and retire from the cattle industry. It didn’t take long for us to realize we missed both the cattle and the relationships we had built along the

way. In God’s perfect timing, our son Nick decided to decrease his cattle operation in order to focus more time on crop production. This gave Jane and I the opportunity to start a much smaller and more manageable cattle herd that is just the right size for our age and stage of life. Our goal and purpose is to be good stewards of the cattle that we have been entrusted with and to propagate the most productive cow families. We hope to do this so that we may have a positive and lasting impact on the industry and the lives of the people we serve. • Nick and Jess Rich • Nick’s herd began when his parents bought him a Red Angus heifer as a 4H project. Later, in 2008 at the first Kick Off Classic, Nick bought RRA Rachel 246 746 in the sale from his parents and started building his herd around her genetics. With a focus on strong and attractive phenotype, Nick grew his herd utilizing an ET program centered around Rachel and through purchasing embryos from Damar Farms. In the late fall of 2020, Nick and Jess decided to focus more time and effort into their row crop and custom application business. Therefore, they sold all but 5 of their cows to Kurt and Jane. Now, with their girls being older and getting involved in 4H, Alizabeth and Charlotte have taken an interest in the cattle and have joined in on the responsibilities. Nick and Jess are back to growing their herd utilizing an ET program centered around RRA Ms Confidence C063 905 and also Rachel’s daughter, RRA Charlie 746 504.

537 is what I like to call “a good one”! She aligns with our breeding philosophy: Pedigree+Phenotype+Performance=Profitability.

This heifer goes back 4 generations to DFRA Tarmily N512, the donor cow that put the Damar program on the map. She also ties in stand out bulls in her pedigree: RRA Mulberry 922, Connealy Earnan 076E, Bieber Stockmarket H198, and Bieber Merger K525. To see her phenotype check out her picture and video! She has length, depth, base width, all on a good foot! Performance: this heifer had an 86lb BW with a 675lb WW giving her a WW ratio of 119. She has 4 generations of MPPA’s hitting 107, 106, 102, and 102. Profitability remains to be seen, but in over 40 years of breeding cattle this is the type and kind we have come to believe in. My mentor, Rex James, once told me “Good cows produce good cows, so raise good ones... they cost the same to feed!” We will be keeping the right to an IVF flush interest of 10 embryos. Call Kurt with any questions 319-981-1506. Leave a message and he will call you back!
