Why did you choose to work with Havwoods? I had heard about Havwoods before while working in a Hospitality firm, and now came across it again as I was looking for materials on W18th street. What advice would you give to a client searching for flooring? My advice would be to always look for something subtle, and the tone has to make sense for the look that you are going for. Flooring is such a huge part of the project for it covers a large part of the space, so it needs to be cleverly selected so that it is something that you can live with for a very long time. Not wanting to use the word ‘understatement’, but it needs to flow invisibly yet visibly at the same time. Functionality comes into play too: you need something with the hardwood thickness too, so that if in the future the flooring needs to be sanded down a little for maintenance, you have room to do that.
What was your favorite part of designing a bridal showroom? My favorite part by far was choosing the color palette! We had to choose colors that complement the brides and would make the showroom a serene, relaxing and whimsical experience. Why did you choose light-toned wood flooring for this project? The reason I chose a light-toned flooring is that the lightness of it lifts up the space and marries well with the warm greens, blues and greys that tied everything together. How would you describe the initial design mood board for this project? Our client had a clear vision of how they wanted the space to look like and an initial mood board that they shared with me regarding the style and look they were going for. I then helped bring everything together with my expertise.
