it fit? Had time or celebration left any marks from her parents’ wedding at Texarkana Country Club 27 years earlier? Slipping into the simple, classic gown, rich with family history, and seeing the tears in her mother’s eyes, Grace knew that was the dress, their dress, her something borrowed. With a few thoughtful alterations by the talented seamstress Jackie Yates of Atlanta, Texas, the gown was tailored just for Grace. An embroidered patch bearing both wedding dates was sewn into the lining. The family will always be grateful to Jackie for helping preserve this beautiful connection across generations. The dress became a treasured memory shared between mother and daughter. Grace and Heath’s values were thoughtfully incorporated into every part of their special day. Grace’s uncle, Trey, officiated the ceremony. Trey has been a role model to both Grace and Heath, and someone Grace grew up admiring for the way he led their large family. While surprised when asked, Trey humbly responded, “I am definitely not qualified, but there will be nobody who will pray for you and Heath more.” The night after Heath and Grace’s very first date, he opened a Bible that was given to him by his late grandmother, Ada Ferguson. Ada was a woman of deep spiritual strength who loved her family fiercely. Written in the margins were these words: “Lord God, I pray that You will bring Heath the woman, the helper, that You have for him. Bless his marriage with Your presence and power. I pray that they will each know You through Christ and choose Your path always.” An especially touching moment of the ceremony came when the prayer was read aloud. The heartfelt words tied the past to the present. Though the prayer was written long before Grace came into Heath’s life, it felt as if it had always been meant for her. It was a powerful reminder their love had been quietly blessed and guided long before their paths ever crossed. Even the music played on their wedding day reflected their hearts. The ceremony began with “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music, and Grace walked down the aisle to “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake. Their first dance as husband and wife was to “Making
