Irish Data Centre Ecosystem Report

“ What we are seeing now is growth in our maintenance business where we are offered contracts for maintenance hours as well. ”

Paudi Reidy CEO LPI Group

Paddy Ryan : For us, growth means expanding into the European market. For a young company, the ability to rely on my Irish counterparts on how to do that and best practices for success has been invaluable. Paudi has been a tremendous help in that regard. What is the most tax efficient way of setting this up? What is the best structure for the business? How to come into a market, set up the business and hire local talent. Greg Hayden : One thing that makes us all unique is that we are all specialists in what we do. We are not trying to be all things to all people. We are good at our piece of the puzzle and that opens up opportunities across Europe. At Ethos Engineering, we are part of a European Alliance Network with 14 other firms across Europe. When we come into a job with one of those partners, all of a sudden we go from 120 people to 3500. It opens up a pathway for us to do business with a greater number of clients in a broader set of countries. Cathal Quinn : And that brings us back to our earlier point about relationships. When we go into a new country, sometimes we work with local partners. On other occasions we bring in Dutch or German or British or Irish partners to help on the project. Each market is different so we need to understand how each relationship is different as well. What works in one country might not work in another. We have to take the individuality of the local market into account as well as understanding how it plays into the data centre industry as a whole.
