With a left hand holder used, a sufcient cutting distance can be kept since the cutting edge position is separate from the guide bush. For the left-hand holder, the selection of A type and B type is the reverse of the right-hand holder. (B indicates the guide bush side while A indicates the back turning side.)
It is often used in common tooling for workpieces that have a thread at their top end. In this type of tooling, the undercutting width indicated with the arrow can be reduced since the cutting edge point is placed closer to the guide bush side.
Often used when a thread is at the middle of the workpiece or at the rear. In this type of tooling, the undercutting width indicated with the arrow can be reduced since the cutting edge point is placed closer to the back turning side.
