knowledge and trends of Yemeni elites by Al Jazeera, BBC radio, and Radio Sawa (1) . Meanwhile, Nawal Musleh compared Al Jazeera and the Egyptian Sawt al-Arab as two media institutions that grew up in an undemocratic Arab environment (2) . These are just a few examples of the comparative studies that have dealt with Al Jazeera in different aspects with Arab and international media. The following section is another aspect of Al Jazeera’s presence in the aca- demic arena and its influence on research trends. 4. Expanding Interest and In-depth Examination After identifying the phenomenon of Al Jazeera and introducing it in several types of research, including comparative studies, and having been established as one of the world’s most prominent media organi- sations, the researchers’ attention has expanded, and their subjects and methodological approaches varied greatly. Undoubtedly, Al Jazeera’s growth and evolution from a one-language channel into a multilingual and multi-platform network has contributed itself to the growing ac- ademic interest. In this context, the academic research on Al Jazeera covered three levels: First: on academic specialisation: and since it is a media organi- sation, it has been customary that media studies get the bulk of that ef- fort. However, Al Jazeera also became an interesting research subject in (PhD thesis, Lancaster University, 2013).
